Is it possible to drive a 2560 x 1600 monitor, like dell 3008, over hdmi from np8662? It has hdmi 1.3, right? Also, I understand that although hdmi 1.3 supports 2560 x 1600, the refresh rate and color depth are not as high as for lower resolutions, how big of an issue is this?

the high-end Clevo systems like the M860TU/M570TU/D901C should all have Dual-link DVI output to drive the WQXGA (2560x1600) screens.
I am not sure about them having HDMI 1.3
Since there has been revisions for the systems, you can confirm by contacting the vendors. -
in the specifications it doesn't not say anything about a dual-link dvi, i assume it does not have one, which leaves hdmi as the only option.

i also have another question, this res supports 60 Hz display monde? Will that be a little harsh on the eyes? Is 85 Hz better? -
On an LCD display, the 'low speed' refresh rates aren't harsh on the eyes because there is no flicker. Almost all LCD screens (certainly 99% of laptop panels) only support 60Hz, and it is only the new screens that now support more than this.
