I know this thing gets hot, and it doesn't bother me, but the temperatures seem to be going higher than I remember in the past few weeks. I mostly play Source powered games, but Bad Company 2 and Crysis push the gpu up into the 90s easily. Once out of the game, all of the temps come back down fairly quickly like they're supposed to.

Anything that might be causing higher temps? The weather here is really getting warm and I've got no AC, but does that really make a difference?

Room temperature have an impact, but have you ever cleaned your laptop for dust? Maybe reapplying the thermal paste are in place too. Unplug it, remove the battery and open it and screw off the fan and blow with air on a can or something different in the vent. Use som q-tips to clean the fanblades.

To be honest, I wanted to check for dust but I don't have a screwdriver handy in my dorm. If it really could be the cause, I can run out and get one though, maybe some paste.

Try without changing the paste first. If its not difficult for you to do, then by all mean do it. The factory paste isnt that good.

Good call. There was quite a bit of dust blocking the back of the heatsink. I'll see how it runs.

Why not use a compressed air blaster vs the screwdriver?

It was pretty easy to remove the fan cover and pull the dust out in large bits by hand. There was quite a bit.

My lappy feels SO much cooler since i installed win7 x64, with the latest drivers for most: gpu, intel matrix, i wanna say chipset but i dont remember exactly, realtek audio. Oh i also updated the bios.
