This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    So, after much research and decision making, I've decided to purchase an NP8690.(even though I could build a nasty desktop for the same price; my 8800GTS will suffice)

    This is what I have for a configuration:

    15.6" Full HD LED Display with Super Glossy Surface (1920 x 1080)
    Intel® Core™ i7-820QM Processor ( 45nm, 8MB L3 Cache, 1.73GHz )
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 280M Graphics with 1GB DDR3 Video Memory
    4GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 2 X 2GB
    500GB 5400rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive

    Any comments/suggestions?
