Hey guys, a few months ago, I perused this forum in search of a Sager BIOS that would disable Hyperthreading on this computer. Well, I found no BIOS with that capability aside from that European reseller mySN or something, and decided it's high time somebody told Sager about this problem. Lo and Behold, Sager JUST e-mailed me a BIOS update this morning for the NP8760 (W870CU). I have to say, it has been a success. My new-ish computer is happily running on this new BIOS with HT turned off.

    Happy updating!

Edit: I am not responsible for anything this BIOS does to your computer. Whether or not you choose to update or not is solely up to you. (This is to just ensure ppl don't start screaming at me if something goes wrong.)

So why did you want to turn off hyper threading?

The BIOS version is 1.15s, and I opted to turn off Hyper-Threading because I really don't need that many threads. Considering not many applications (primarily games) are well multi-threaded anyways, I wanted for there to be better gaming performance without the processing overhead that happens when you are maintaining the extra logical cores in a hyper-threaded enabled processor.

Does it have Extreme overclocking options as well? Now that we have Throttlestop, it doesn't really matter, but I'm still curious.

I don't have that sort of CPU, so it's not gonna be unlocked for me :p I only have the Intel 740QM cpu in my machine. You can try flashing it and see if it works! They have it unlocked in previous BIOS versions for extreme CPUs, right?

Even if you don't have an XM, it will still list the overclocking options, they'll just be greyed out and unselectable.

Hmm... I didn't notice it there. I could check again next time I reboot tho.

    Update to this:

I did not see an option for overclocking. When I asked Sager to get the BIOS from Clevo, I figured that they wouldn't want users to go OCing their computers resulting in RMA galore if some things did go wrong.

How do you update BIOS if you are using RAID? I tried to boot using MSDOS and Freedos CD and it can't find the CDROM and thus I can't see any program from cd except what's on the boot image.

RAID shouldn't matter, because you don't need to read the hard drive. Just make sure your CD drive is set to the first boot option, or use the USB method in the BIOS thread. You can just mount the image and extract the files to the USB.
