My sager is currently running the 280m GPU on the clevo W870cu/sager NP8760. Originally bought from xoticpc. Wondering if anyone knows some good models for a replacement GPU that are compatable. The old one is having a lot of overheating symptoms. Thanks guys!

when was the last time you cleaned your vents and fans out with compressed air. this is one of the main causes of overheating.

Have you also tried reapplying fresh thermal compound? We ask these questions first, because overheating isn't usually the mark of a bad GPU.

I havent... Sounds like a fun little project. Never tried it... Looks like bestbuy sells it. Though knowing which GPU I will need in the future just in case still sounds pretty handy :)

The computer is stable until I run something that pulls from the GPU, then over the course of a few hours it will begin to crash. Steps taken to improve cooling have assisted in delaying this symptom. I'm left assuming my GPU, for whatever reason, is not able to keep its temperature under control.

Okay, wait a sec. Have you be measuring the GPU temperatures, or are you assuming it's related to temperature?

If it's the latter, would you please leave HWMonitor running in the background so we can know how hot it's getting?

And are the crashes you're referring to the GPU driver, or the entire system? Try to go into detail with this.

If you felt flush and the W870cu takes the same heatsinks as the w880cu then there is an upgrade kit with heatsink on ebay for the GTX680m.
