    I can get a Sager NP8760 with an i7 920qm Extreme with 4gbs of ram or I can get a Sager NP9280 with a i7 950 with 6gb of ram for about $100 less.

The 8760 has a better screen but I don't think the CPU is as poweful. Which should I get?

Same VGA, more Ram, better CPU, and upgrade to Gulftown maybe possible later. And i like 1920x1200 more than 1920x1080. :D
Or you can wait to get the D900F refresh later with maybe DT CPU and VGA SLI.

You should read Gophn's D900F review before deciding, it's in the D900F owners lounge. The thing is massive.. I always say it's like a laptop, that ate another laptop. Make sure you're OK with that.. I thought I would be, until I read his review, and got out my tape measure and compared it to my current laptop. The W870CU is a jump up in size for me, and the D900F was just too big.

I thought the 8760 had a better (and slightly bigger) screen? And of course the CPU is better but how much?

    **********************
I have looked at both owner's lounges and I have gone through numerous benchmarks. Surprisingly even with the i7 975 Extreme the i7 920QM isn't too far behind. Both have upgradeable GPU's but I fear that the D900 might have more upgradability because of the rumors that it will have a i9 upgrade. This is a very tough choice..... battery life and noise don't mean anything to me since I will always be near an outlet. Deciding factors will end up being future upgradability and which has a better LCD.. hmm...

For the users who have bought the 8760 with the Blue Ray burner, can you check which region it is, please? :)

It's not set initially. It got set automatically the first time I watched a DVD in the drive.

    uhm ... this sounds weird!

I've got DVDs from different regions and I'll also buy blue-rays with different regions in the future, so now I guess if there's any chance to modify the DVD\Blue-Ray's firmware in order to make it region free.

Size isnt too much of a problem for me as long as it is under 15lbs I will consider it to be portable. What is the difference between the two screens? Also with similar options the D900F will always end up costing more.

The D900F has a higher resolution, the W870CU has a lower resolution but is LED back lit.

That's true, but remember they're different screen sizes, and thus different viewing ratios.

So the higher resolution the better which would mean that the D900F has the better screen?

That depends on you, for some people LED back lit is a must, for others it's not so important as the actual resolution itself.

Look .... in my opinion, the only reason you would choose a D900 over a W870, is if you really need the processing power of the desktop i7's. Most people certainly don't.
I do, because I work professionally with programs that simply can't get enough computing power, on a daily basis. If you don't, the D900 is overkill for you. The W870 will be just as good in 99% of whatever you will be doing with the machine.
The only concern with the W870 is that it's battery life will be even shorter than the D900 - if that is no concern for you, it is no concern.

Yeah the i7 975 Extreme is very overkill and a lot of people say that they are interested in seeing what the i7 920QM will have in store in the future. I think I have made my choice :) Thank you everyone.

Plus a ES 920XM is much cheaper than ES 975.
