I was thinking of selling my laptop to upgrade (specs in sig) to a newer one or build a desktop, however, it seems like I would get well under what I'd like for it. I've been thinking of upgrading my router since I have a WNDR3400 and would like at least to have gigabit LAN (WNDR3700) or take full advantage of all 3 streams my laptop is capable of (WNDR4500). But I saw this on Newegg Newegg.com - Intel 7260HMW IEEE 802.11ac Mini PCI Express Bluetooth 4.0 - Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Combo Adapter and am thinking of getting that to replace my Intel 6300 and buying a R6200 Router instead (or R6300 for future proofing). Can I put an Intel AC 7260 in a Sager NP9150 (Clevo P150EM)? Is it difficult to install wifi cards? I'm not sure also how connecting antennae work (there are 3 in my laptop for the 6300).

My next question was on GPU upgrading. Is it difficult to upgrade the GPU? Or is it as simple as swapping them out and updating drivers? I was thinking of replacing my 675M with either a 675MX for the small performance boost and Kepler architecture or the 680M for the boost. Has anyone bought from this ebayer before? Clevo P150EM P151EM P170EM Upgrade Kit GTX 680M 4GB MXM 3 0B with VGA Heatsink | eBay

    Thanks for your help!

Totally not worth your while to upgrade your 675 to 675MX or 680M. It's going to cost you around $500 for 675MX or $800 for 680M. With GPUs being so finicky and not working, you want at least some assurance, warranty with a reputable seller. Buying from NBR marketplace from idiots who think their used product with no warranty, no guarantee is worth 500 euros is stupid. Just don't do it, there are plenty of threads on NBR of users scamming users.
    - If you go through a reseller, you can find the same GPU for LESS than what the NBR member louses are selling their used product with no guaranty or warranty. I got a 675MX kit for less than any NBR member was selling brand new with ICD7 and with a heatsink.

You mentioned building a desktop. Build a desktop. Just use your notebook as a mobile unit to game when you need to or want to on the move. That's my plan after the P150EM now. The warranty, cooling, performance and build quality, choices and pricing all just put any laptop to shame. It's a very sad situation right now. When everyone is saying mobile mobile, and yet laptop manufacturers still refuse to provide decent warranty, quality, and options. Their business model hasn't changed at all in the face of competition from Tablets, and other mobile devices.
    - Truly baffling when there are more gamers on console now and the fastest growing gaming market is tablet. What incentive is there to spend $2K on a laptop that has the worst warranty for any computer product, with quality subpar compared to desktop parts, and more restrictions than Apple's user agreements. I don't get it. Laptop/PC sales are down and they refuse to provide better service, better hardware quality control or more options.

Just remember, you can get a GTX Titan for less than a GTX 680M for your notebook. If you can even find a 680M, that isn't used without any warranty, already used, no guarantee or way to prove seller didn't abuse it.

The 680M is a very reliable card and is directly compatible with your machine, you may want the kit to get a perfectly matching heatsink and would give your machine a new generation kick especially with some tweaking.

Zymphad the 680M is in a different league to your 675MX, the gaming experience is quite different.

Wasn't the point now was it? Nope nope nope. And I don't care about benchmarking, so no it's not in a different league for my needs. Deagleson has 120 FPS in BO2, so do I. I have constant 60 FPS in all other games, including Metro Last Light. I don't do graphic art or CAD, so not concerned if 680M has superior OpenCL. You don't even know what game I'm currently playing and whether a 680M would make any difference for it.

Always the sales person I know, gotta remember who you are posting for and who you represent. I hope other users don't forget that, and don't fall for your constant upselling. You're either upselling a member or you are posting about benchmarking, both useless responses to my posts.

@Helldog, FYI no seller will take returns on GPU either. Unlike NewEgg, Amazon or any reputable seller for desktop. At most you will get a 90 day warranty only to cover a DOA situation, unlike any desktop GPU that will likely have LIFETIME warranty.
    -
I think it's far better to upgrade or build your desktop than to spend upgrading on a money pit that has non-existent return policy and a feeble 90 day warranty. Unless your GPU is broke and not working, not worth your money or time.
    - I can understand if you are in a situation in which you are never at home, and always in a different location working every two weeks or what have you. But if you gaming at home on a desktop, yeah, forget the laptop upgrading.

As for upgrading, yes it's easy. Couldn't be easier. It's self explanatory. Don't buy from Ebay. They are just as bad as NBR members. Go through your reseller, most resellers have special upgrade/replacement prices for their customers!!!
    -
Not trolling you, it's your money, I won't troll how you spend it. Just giving my experience with mobile gaming. The upgrade, the 20% increase in speed is not shattering, often it's just a few FPS more. It's so hyped up. Hyped by the users too I think to justify themselves for the cost of their upgrade.

Just to prepare myself for what a desktop will cost, waiting for new consoles to be released first and gauge what the next games will require.
    - An EVGA GTX 760 superclocked system with an i5 4670K which can destroy any laptop system I could possibly build with mobo, casing, heatsinks, 256 SSD etc, was still under $1K. So not sure what you are going to get for selling your laptop, it might be feasible?
    - (I don't consider the SLI, or 18" machines to be laptops, they are monstrosities).

I think you might be right. I suggest calling Eurocomm by phone directly, and see if you can get a better price. Haggling on Ebay is moronic. Make offer, and then they will offer you $5 less than what they posted. I tried with this seller on Ebay. Whereas I got Eurocomm to price match over the phone for a cheaper price. I think whoever handles their Ebay is separate from the sales rep you can speak to directly.

Yet you are insulting the very community of the forum you are posting on.

I represent a notebook reseller, we don't do parts, we have nothing to gain in this situation. Please think before accusing members of foul play.

Also when there is some debate over if it's worth it, graphs always do wonders:

    from anandtech there.

The 675MX is about 10% faster than the 580/675M, the 680m is much, MUCH faster.

    It will work fine.

I had one in the P150HM even.

The 7260 will work in just about any machine that takes that form factor card.
Uninstall the drivers for whatever old card you have, shutdown, remove it, put new one in and load new drivers and enjoy!

The card is located under the keyboard, similar to how you get to the other RAM slots.
