My NP9150 arrived a few days ago, and it's absolutely awesome (also, to answer one of my earlier threads, it's quieter than a Macbook Pro, especially when gaming). Still have a few questions though.

    1. What is the KeepSafe icon on the desktop? I can't rid of it.

    2. Has anyone tried Linux on this computer? I need Linux for coding only, so I don't want it to use to the 680m.

    Thanks.

Keepsafe is part of the Authen Tech technology. Basically it uses the finger print scanner to lock files into a particular folder, kind of like a safe. If you look under your computer you can see the folder along with your hard drives. You need to go into the Authen Tech program and uncheck the box to place the icon on the desktop.

As far as Linux working on it, ALL video passes through the iGPU, so I assume that there is no problem with using linux on it. You should be able to get an intel driver for it and just never use the 680m.

Keepsafe is where you put files (or videos ;)) that you don't want other people finding. Do what Xtrophy said if you don't want it on the Desktop, as you can easily access it through your Computer.

Quite frankly the only way I would store files in an encrypted volume is with something open source, e.g. TrueCrypt. That way, no matter what, the recipe to retrieve your files is going to be out there.
Otherwise maybe something OS-supplied like BitLocker for a more local solution, but that's it.

FYI: Authentec has just been bought by Apple.
