I'm having a little issue with my nifty little NP9150.

Whenever I'm listening to music at work, and the screen goes off, it introduces a 500ms delay. Only when the screen goes off, never anything else. I've tried WASAPI, ASIO, and DirectSound, all without difference, which leads me to think it's an DPC Latency issue. But, I haven't seen ANY spikes, even when I witness delays with a monitor open.

    My usual signal path is:

    External HDD --> USB3 --> Foobar2000 (WASAPI output, 24bit/96khz, no dither, no resample) --> USB2 --> uDAC v2

    Things I've tried:

DPC Latency monitor (Highest spike was 600 µs)
    Deleting Wireless drivers
    Deleting all network drivers
Variable Foobar2000 buffer (from 50 to 3000, same problem still happens)
Variable Foobar2000 output method (from WASAPI to ASIO to DirectSound, incl. exclusive and inclusive modes.)
Variable media players (from Foobar2000 to VLC/WMP/MPC/Winamp)
    Disabling all other sound devices
Disabling the nVidia video card (running HD4000 only)
    Disabling the webcam
Running the music from the internal SSD
Running different formats of music files (FLAC, MP3, WAV, AAC)
Using the uDAC in the specific USB2 port
Using the internal speakers instead of the uDAC. (Same issue present)
Format and reinstall of the OS - generic drivers
    Only sound drivers
    All drivers

Closing the lid by hand does NOT produce the same little gap. So it must be something to do with Power Savings. No devices are allowed to be turned off to save power, and I'm running the High Performance profile, with the lid close action only shutting off the screen, not putting the computer into sleep. USB Selective suspend setting is disabled, and Link State Power Management is also off. Turn off hard disks is also set to never.

    Anyone have any ideas?

We assume this is you using built-in audio and external speakers?

Does your monitor also have built-in speakers by chance?

No, I'm using a USB sound card, the uDAC v2.

Troubleshooting update in the first post.

As a note to anyone curious, the Bison NB Pro webcam was causing my DPC latency to spike to 800ish randomly. Enabled, I had an average of about 220, disabled I have an average around 140 with the highest spike to 407. So, if you don't use the webcam, disable it in the Device Manager!

Not like that's enough to cause these issues... That would be more like 2-4k.

The thing with the video camera makes no sense, it should be powered off when not in use without disabling it.

When I use it (trough skype) the red light on the camera itself lights up and it takes 1-2 secs to power on.

Interesting issue u got there with that cam.

It's true, the webcam isn't on, but the driver may still be active and looking for something to do.

Either way, it's not the cause of my issues.

I wish I wasn't so obsessive about this issue... But it bothers me so.

I would hate to have to toss this computer because of this issue, but it's coming to that soon.
