    Laptop Info: NP9150, intel i7- 3630QM, nvidia gtx 675m, 8gb ram, 1tb HDD, 240gb msata(os drive)

Recently got this laptop about 1-2 weeks ago and i install win8 on it with the drivers provided by sager. When i use the GTX 675m i would randomly get "driver fail and has recovered" and it would close my game and i would have to reinstall the driver to temporarily fix this error but today i receive a BSOD due to nvlddmkm, sys. I restarted my laptop and uninstall the driver then try to reinstall but it would always fail when it get to the graphic driver. i tried with 306.97 and 310.33 both ended with the same results.

I then formatted my laptop and installed windows again from scratch and after i get through the drivers for nvidia and restarted i got the BSOD again with nvlddmkm.sys or "driver_verifier detection_violation" and it hasn't been able to get pass the win8 log-in the BSOD usually pops in after the loading logo. I am not much of a computer tech person and these kind of error are what i am afraid of getting, if you can simplify the response would be helpful because i might not know certain applications. Should i return this? Thank you for the help.

I ran who crashed after my laptop restore to the point where the drivers weren't installed and after I analyzed the report tab says

On Wed 11/7/2012 8:01:06 PM GMT your computer crashed
    crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\110712-12265-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x7B040)
    Bugcheck code: 0xC4 (0x91, 0x2, 0xFFFFF8011F5D8880, 0x0)
    Error: DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION
    file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
    product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
    company: Microsoft Corporation
    description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This is the general bug check code for fatal errors found by Driver Verifier.
The driver switched stacks using a method that is not supported by the operating system. The only supported way to extend a kernel mode stack is by using KeExpandKernelStackAndCallout. This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

On Wed 11/7/2012 8:01:06 PM GMT your computer crashed
    crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: nvlddmkm.sys (nvlddmkm+0x1B2479)
    Bugcheck code: 0xC4 (0x91, 0x2, 0xFFFFF8011F5D8880, 0x0)

A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nvlddmkm.sys .
    Google query: nvlddmkm.sys DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION

Should re-install the NVidia driver to see if it still occurs?

im sorry to say ive never seen that DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION error before so cant really help much. it could well be a mix of nvidia driver and windows 8.
it might be best to contact you suppliers support team to see if they can advise.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I re-installed my driver and I am not getting BSOD anymore but when I use NVidia To run my game (raiderz) I get the problem I use to get "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" under that it says "display driver NVidia windows kernel mode driver, version 306.97 stopped responding and has successfully recovered." I try reinstalling the driver, but error repeats like before.

When the video card stops responding that can be due to a hardware error, overclockers often get that when their overclocks are not stable or if there is an error with the driver.

Things to try are an earlier display driver, lowering your clocks (even below stock) and double check it's running at normal temperatures.

If lowering your clocks below stock solves the issue your card is defective and needs to be sent back.

I try updating my driver to the beta 310.33 and it gave my the BSOD from my first post then I try an older version 306.23 and it still gave me the error like 306.97. As for underclocking I never had any experience overclock and underclocking a cpu/gpu. I downloaded msi afterburn and the adjustable fields are Core Clock(MHz) currently at 620 and Memory Clock(MHz) currently at 1500. what should I adjust them to for a suitable test

I have some problem with msi afterburner after i input the number and click apply the number just automatically jump back to 620MHz core and 1500Mhz memory. I also notice it doesn't show my driver version and i re-install my driver and still no difference. Also when I run a program with GTX675m the core and memory would instantly reach the max setting on the monitoring window of msi afterburner.

Make sure you have unlocked afterburner by editing the cfg file with the eula statement.

I added "I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it" to the cfg and it allow me to set the core but the memory still resets. I try a program with the core at 500 and memory at 1500 and display error still occurs.

Yeah I think at this point you need to have it looked at by your reseller.

My retailer has suggested to contact sager and after going through some testing with the sager tech guy over the phone they have asked me to ship my unit back to sager. They are not sure what is the problem yet so I'll have to wait and see. Thanks for all the help greatly appreciated.
