Any thoughts on the NP9150 over the NP6350?
I am located in Toronto, Canada and have been shopping on Reflexnotebook.ca's website and have narrowed my choice down between these two systems.
Sager NP6350
95% Matte
nVidia 660M
3610QM
16GB
750HD 7.2k (non hybrid)
256GB Crucial M4
DVD
Win7-64 Home
CDN = $1,594.00
Sager NP6350
95% Matte
nVidia 670M
3610QM
16GB
750HD 7.2k (non hybrid)
256GB Crucial M4
External DVD
Win7-64 Home
CDN = $1,844.00
I know the graphics card is fixed on the 6350 but think the 660M would likely suffice for my Photoshop and Lightroom use. I do not game at all and the machine would be used for general use as well as processing photo's and possibly video in the future.
- Zero Dead Pixel Insurance? How often are there issues with the panels?
- Stock Standard Thermal Compound?
- Should I wait for Win8 or go with something now? This is more from a system 'deal' perspective - do you think systems will drop around the launch date of Win8?
- Wireless Network Card: I need both wireless and Bluetooth - which is the card to buy?
- Does anyone have any feedback on Reflexnotebooks.ca? Are they good to deal with? Is the price you pay them the price to the door?
- Hoe reliable are Sagers? Should I consider any of the extended warranty plans?
Any comments would be appreciated or if you want to send me to other threads it would be helpful. I have been reading tons of threads here in the past few weeks.
Thanks!

dead pixel is all luck. i got my p150em and it has 0 dead pixel, very happy
i suggest just stock thermal compound, as its a lot cheaper to just buy the IC diamond or whatever and do it yourself. also you would prob do a better job than they do
i would stay with windows 7, since windows 8 is new thus may be full of bugs. also i find it impossible to use
just stock card should be fine. thats what i got
their price includes tax and shipping/brokerage fee, so when you get package you dont pay extra
warranty is really up to you i guess. -
Thanks!
Do you have a comment on the 6350 verses the 9150 for my (non-gaming) needs? -

Like Silverfern mentioned stuck/dead pixels are all luck. While they are rare they do happen. I recommend the getting the 0 dead pixel policy though. You can spend weeks configuring the right computer for you, order with everything you need, then to have it show up with a bad pixel would not be fun. The standard dead pixel policy will require 5 total or one in the middle section to be covered.
IC Diamond will help temps keep lower of course. But since you really wont be spending hours with the components under load it wont make as much of a difference to you compared to gamers. Photo editing doesnt really stress the components to max temps.
I'd go with Windows 7 home now. Since Microsoft is offering the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $15 it would be still cheaper to buy home now and get pro later then it would cost you to buy pro later. And you would have two version of Windows.
For the wireless card the stock on will probably be all you need. If you upgrade to anything the Intel 6230 will take care of you for home use.
The Warranty is just like the dead pixel policy. If you need it its great that you have it.
For your use the 6350 will be great. Plus it has two hard drive bays so you can do a SSD for fast program start up especially for PS/LR, if you're also running alot of add on plug ins it helps a lot to get those started too, then you can store pics on the HDD. My PS starts in about 1.5secs will all my plug ins. Then you'll still have the internal optical drive so you dont have to carry that external around. -
yeah would really recommend a ssd, especially the ones with 500mb/sec read and write speeds. i jumped on one and can now never go back to rotating drives as boot drive

I think Clevo W350ETQ (Sager NP6350) is good for you.
Zero Dead Pixel Insurance?
Recommend to buy
How often are there issues with the panels?
Not Often.
Stock Standard Thermal Compound?
Recommend IC Thermal Compound
Should I wait for Win8 or go with something now? This is more from a system 'deal' perspective - do you think systems will drop around the launch date of Win8?
The price will be the same. If you buy a Windows 7 Home Premium today with some resellers, you can upgrade to Windows 8 Profesional for $14.99 only before Jan. 2013. Check detail information with the resellers.
Wireless Network Card: I need both wireless and Bluetooth - which is the card to buy?
It is depending on your router. If you have a wider bandwith router and higher speed DSL, you shall buy Big foot killer. Otherwise, do not upgrade. -
Thanks for the replies.
@silverfern - I will definitely being dropping in a SSD for the O/S and LR and PS and the spinner will be for data. -
Can anyone confirm if both HDD bays in the NP6350 are SATA3?
