Visited these forums a few times before and finally decided it was about time to create an account. :)

A question for you NP9150 and NP9170 owners out there. I'm currently debating between the two laptops (leaning towards the NP9170 so far) but was curious as to the case texture of the two laptops.

I know the NP9150 has a more "rubberized" feeling to it where the NP9170 has more of a hard plastic / brushed aluminum feel to it. I currently have an ASUS U56E and like the "rubberized" wrist wrest, though the oil from my wrists tend to stain it a bit when I rest them for long periods of time. Any experiences like this with the NP9150?

Also, I believe I read somewhere that the NP9170 is a bit of a fingerprint magnet. I feel myself gravitating towards the more metallic case but I've heard some nice things about the NP9150's case as well. Any thoughts between the two?

I guess when it comes down to it it'll just be more of a personal preference type of thing, but I'd like to hear others' thoughts.

I'v got the previous p150hm model, but the chassis is essentially the same. I haven't had much of a problem with staining the finish, and if there is any, it's not permanent. I don't really like the rubberised trackpad, but that's personal preference.
I would say the difference in the chassis material is way down the list of things you should be looking at. The major difference between the two is the screen size, chassis size and the extra drive bay. Depends what you are willing to spend, and what you need.

Oh yes, it's way down my list of priorities, I'm just curious as to what Sager laptop owners think of the difference in finishes.

    Thanks for your thoughts!

I really like how the P150EM feels and looks, both the palm rest area and the LCD cover. I agree, the rubberized trackpad was an oversight though. But the brandless look, all matte black/gray finish is just awesome. I love that I'm not a billboard for Apple/Dell as I'm using my machine.

The debranding option for Clevo/Sager is awesome. What a great feature!

The barebones are unbranded anyway. It's only the builders that add that, or in the case of Sager resellers, remove the Sager branding if you want. The fact is, you buy them for work and/or gaming, so the functionality is far more important than bling.

I have the 9170 (just arrived yesterday!) and I have to say, the brushed aluminium is really, really nice. It has a nice smooth feel (though it does show smudges, it's really not that bad). I got mine without branding and I think it looks amazing

My only complaint would be the texture of the trackpad...it's just...weird. It also has a "brushed" feel, which is ok going side to side but you can really feel it going up and down. I don't think I'm a fan. Though this laptop is clearly meant to be used with an external mouse, I would really have appreciated a nicer feel for when carrying a mouse around isn't practical.

With you on that, I think the trackpad feels odd, owned mine for 3 weeks now and still can't get used to the feel of it... As this is a gaming laptop I don't have an issue with a decent mouse with it, but like u say sometimes u just want to get the laptop out without any of the rest of your kit and use the trackpad.
