Is there anyway to control the back light on these keyboards without having the icons come up on the screen when pressing caps lock, numlock and the like?

It is a simple thing, but it annoys me to death. Thanks.

Somehow I lost the program that controls that. I didn't uninstall anything so I don't know what is up. Do you happen to know the name of the program that runs it?

It is part of the hotkey application. My best advice - set your desired key color, then kill the hotkey process in task manager. Once it is dead... no more game minimizing icons (at least until you reboot).

    Uninstall Hotkey you have.
    Install Hotkey
    - ver. 6.0100 for Win 7: http://files.sagernotebook.com/Sagernotebook/misc/06_Hotkey_9370.exe
    or
    - ver. 8.0100 for Win 8: http://files.sagernotebook.com/Sagernotebook/misc/9370/06_Hotkey_W8_9370.exe

Right click the Hotkey icon in the notification area and untick K/B indicator.

It's for Sager NP9370 originally, but it works perfectly on my laptop which is Sager NP9150 more less, so it should work with your NP9170.
