    Hey guys,

So I recently got a razer tiamat 7.1 headset. I got it plugged in by using the four audio ports on the NP9170 and it was working pretty well... for a couple minutes. I had to go in to the Realtek HD audio manager connector settings and enable the option "enable auto popup dialog when device has been plugged in" in order to configure which jack went with which part of the 7.1 system. In order to make this work I had to use the second port as a "center / subwoofer speaker out" option instead of a "mic in" option.

So I'm going along and playing a game with my new headset and after a few minutes of play time the game minimizes and realtek hd has popped up asking me what I want to do my second audio port (it made it sound like I had just unplugged It and re plugged it in). I specify again that it is center / subwoofer out and it goes fine for another 30 seconds or so and then it pops up again and again and again.

Needless it is very frustrating and makes gaming nigh impossible.

Do you guys think this is just a problem with the port? Do I need to send it back to Sager for them to take a look at it?

But here is the weird thing - I've used that port for ages on just a normal headset and I used that port for my mic-in and it worked just fine. It's only begun having this issue once I started using it as a center / subwoofer instead of a mic in.
Do you think it's a problem with the headset instead? Are there some tests I could run to isolate the problem?

    thanks in advance

It may not be that any of the hardware is faulty, but rather, the driver. I'm not sure as to whether the notification is due to the connection being lost, or if it's the Realtek driver in and of itself.

Or it could be the cable of the headset, try swapping two of the connectors, it will mean the sound positioning will be off, but if it pops up the same port it's either the driver or the port itself having issues. If the port having issues changes I would blame the headset cable itself.

I've been trying it out for about an hour now with no problems at all. I think I may have accidentally plugged the rear speakers in to the side speaker port and visa versa. I"m not sure why that would have caused issues, but I'm just glad it's working now. Thanks for your help!

Haha, the best solution of all is when nothing is wrong :)

Nice headset by the way :)
