I ordered the 72% Matte screen and I assume it is the correct one (as nobody ever answered my post on how to tell the difference :p ) I have only one thing to say about it...............................

AMAZING - Beautiful - Gorgeous!!! This is the best notebook screen I have ever seen and I have been working with computers for years. So to anyone considering Matte vs Glossy - Matte is Excellent on this model and it is so vibrant it almost feels like glossy(minus all the reflections and unwanted shine)

I loaded SWTOR and Skyrim, SWTOR looks out of this world with all setting on high! I NEVER new this game looked this good even when I had the MSI it wasn't this good looking. The colors absolutely pop.

I will post a full system review this week after I test out the Blu-Ray writer (waiting for the software to come in)

but so far in the catchphrase of Mickey D's

    I'M LOVING IT!

Did you have to calibrate the screen yourself or did Power Notebooks calibrate it for you?

Great to hear you like the screen, I too am a fan on matte screens.

If you curious about which screen model exactly you have in there download and run HWiNFO and click on monitor.

Yes the 17.3" AUO screens are indeed amazing products.

Next I wish they would put out a matte screen with 90% gamut or higher.

Making me wish I'd ordered the matte screen now :/.

I really couldn't decide what to do. The bigger gamut is nice, I have a high gamut desktop display, but I like matte better. The sales guy at XoticPC seemed to think the glossy was the better unit overall, viewing angles and so on, so I went for it.

Probably should have just gone with the matte screen.

Eh, that's why it is your decision to make. Glossy is good in the dark and depending on the lighting might still be decent without direct light. If you are under the 30 day mark you could spend money and return it as not satisfied and try to get them to change the monitor... maybe, gota talk to them.

Open HWiNFO32 and check the Monitor section, where it should say AUO B173HW01 V5.

I'm at the haven't gone in to production mark currently. I just couldn't decide which I'd like more, because I wanted both and then some. I want my NEC monitor in a laptop, but you just can't have that short of an HP or Dell mobile workstation. That being the case, I wanted the one that was high quality (better viewing angles, etc) over all.

So summarizing, right now the best option for matte display in Clevo P170EM /NP9170 is still AUO B173HW01 V.5 right ? It's 72% gamut. But if I understand well 90% gamut is glossy AUO B173HW01 V.4 and this is also best option for glossy screen. Hey but those screens are in stock from 2009/2010 :/ Nothing better right now can't be installed in this Clevo?

go for 72% unless you want your o/s applications to look like a cartoon

I will have to disagree, go with 90% unless you absolutely can't stand reflections.

but wont calibration be required? from what ive read most if not all day to day applications and operating system graphics dont map the right colour values when using an extended gamut display so the end image looks oversaturated and some colours look neon almost at the top end of the scale.
