    Hi all,

I recently had issues with my Win8 install BSODing (think I needed a BIOS updated). I did a clean install of Win 7 and everything was chipper. All of a sudden my NIC disappeared and I have no PXE boot option.

I emailed Sager and they issued me an RMA but I am hoping that a BIOS update might fix this though logically I don't see why it would. I fear that this thing will need a new mobo.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Justin

Did they have you do any troubleshooting with the drivers, trying different cords, different routers, plugging directly into the source, etc...?

If it's not showing up in BIOS then it could be hardware failure, as I think the PXE LAN is related to the Ethernet controller. For it to not show up in BIOS doesn't imply it's a driver problem to me.

Yeah, did they walk you through anything or just set up a case for you on the fly?

I originally told them that the NIC was missing from device manager.

They asked if PXE boot was an option at startup using F7.

I informed them that PXE was not an option.

    They issued an RMA.

I asked for a BIOS update and just received that earlier today but have not applied it. I will report back.

Being that the BIOS does not recognize the NIC I am confident it is a hw failure but hopeful that it is not and a BIOS update will fix it.

Yeah, that's what it's sounding like but I guess we'll be crossing our fingers for the BIOS flash to work so you don't have to deal with the RMA!

Sounds like hardware failure to me as well, but here's to hoping against hope. :)

OK so I deleted everything off the second hard drive and my SSD reappeared. This had something to do with Windows restore I suspect. Everything working now.

Drive conflicts? Well that's good that things are back to normal. :)
