okay, i'm frustrated, a 3000+ laptop is handicapped by a 40" cord that doesn't let a 2 pound brick sit on the floor unless the back of the laptop is at the edge of the desk.

called xoticpc / sager / clevo - and no one takes responsibility, or offers a solution.

    really insulting.

i'm happy to buy a new friggin powersupply if i needed to, or at least an extension male female cable, but NO ONE has seen this adapter before and i've dealt with every electronic / computer specialty store in the los angeles area and the world wide internet super information highway.

any help? and buyers beware. again, killer lappy, but even xoticpc has stated they have heard complaints about this (thanks for the heads up xotic)

here's a pic of the cable that goes INTO the laptop and the power specs..
    thanks in advance.

I agree with you. I'd rather have this part of the cable longer and the one that goes from the wall to the pus shorter (as that is replaceable with any standard cable).

Hey be happy it works. Mine fried 10 hours into operation after it got shipped all the way to middle east to me. Now I have to buy new and ship. I'm kinda afraid that these bricks aren't tested for 220 volts and just 110 (USA) so any brick I get will fry after a while.

This is getting expensive. Perhaps I should've just gotten an AW.

Although it looks like a physical damage to me (which is not covered by warranty), but it is very new AC adapter. Are you sure Xoticpc do not want to help?

Theres noting physically wrong, the problem is the cord is too short for his use which i see with it only being 40". Since the part from the AC adapter to the computer cant be replaced you could consider replacing the part for the AC Adapter to the wall.

why would it be thought there was damage?
    anyway...
lengthening the cord from wall to brick does nothing except make a longer cord from the wall to brick. the short cord from brick to laptop doesn't change because you lengthen the other.

Yeah, me thinks Prostar didn't read the full post. No damage, but a major design oversight. I wish ALL power bricks would have a removable cord on BOTH ends, so you can change cords if needed. I understand what you're saying. Too short to put laptop on desk and let the PSU sit on the floor, unless you elevate the PSU somehow.

thanks for the post htwingnut. it's pretty amazing to screw this up. let apple continue their arrogant proprietary ways, (as in the rest of the world has embraced the mini usb a device power source - sometimes you just gotta be a mac hater) power supply and cords should for the most part be standard as that's what you forget, lose, break, and people would buy backups. but in this case a backup would only be twice as annoying. as i'm heading to the uk to study product design, so believe me, stuff like this is inexcusable from the developer / designer standpoint. just sayin'...
