Anyone know why this happens? I would really love to overclock my GPU.

Also, is there any guide out there to do so? I have searched and came up with nothing :S

If you tried looking in the millions of threads we have on the new drivers, you'd see it was the 12.11 drivers that broke GPU readers. Only one that currently works with our card is AMD's own program. Also you can overclock with the CCC if you enable it to via an MSI afterburner shortcut edit. Completely forgot what that edit was though.

Wrong info for him. The CCC OverDrive doesn't work for his laptop nor does the /xcl afterburner method.

Afterburner does work. Just go to regedit, and search for EnableULPS_NA. Change the 1 to 0 for those. In the Afterburner directory, look for the cfg file and change the unofficial overclocking and EULA parts to 1. Restart. If it still doesn't work, then install this workaround driver parts.

Download MSI AB Patch.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

So is it ok if I have the 2.2.4 MSI AB? Also, it's still locked. The image is the same as before.

Aren't most people (myself included) not able to oc with afterburner since 12.11? I have edited the registry and done all that was necessary to enable overclocking before the beta release, but after downloading the beta afterburner doesn't work anymore. All values show zero, and there is no longer gpu temp, utilization, or clock monitoring.

Some people have been able to, so that's why I was curious :S

You used to have to initialize it by having Kombustor open in the background, but I'm not sure if that is still the case with 12.11 (I'm still using 12.8 drivers). Have you tried that?

As far as a guide, SlickDude80 has a great one. It's for an Alienware, but if you start at step 10 in the guide (the overclocking part), it is the same. Here is the link to the guide if you need it: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/658958-guide-installing-overclocking-amd-mobility-7970-m17x-r3-illustrated-guide.html
