I'm hoping someone out there can aide me with a dual issue I have. My machine is a Sager NP9261. It has 3GB RAM, three 500GB 7200RPM HDs, and isn't used for gaming. rather it is used mainly for video editing.

Question 1: What if any newer nVidia 1GB+ video card can be added to the NP9261?

Question 2: Not long ago I installed Avid Media Composer 4 (MC4) on the computer. It was fine with or without Command 8 activated. Suddenly yesterday it claimed it can't play back video in MC4 because my video card doesn't have enough memory (it has 512MB) which is surprising as this wasn't a problem for over a month.

I checked the system info and it reports no malfunction that I can see. I ran videos of various types to tax the system both online and off and it didn't even burp. I ran other video editors I have such as Ulead Studio 12, Visual Lab Studio (which is very resource intensive), and a screen capture program called Screenvirtuoso which will capture any video on your screen at 30fps then convert it to .swf, .flv. .wmv., or keep as .avi. As usual no problems. BUT one thing did happen, Serious Magic Ultra 2 suddenly claimed there was a problem with my equipment and stopped working. But I think this due to my being stupid by ignoring the if it isn't broke, don't fix it rule. I downloaded and installed the Adobe patch and that's when Serious magic Ultra 2 stopped working.

So basically, I'm trying to find out if a newer nVidia video card with 1Gb+ memory can be installed into my NP9261.

A 9800m GTX may function, but I cannot say that for sure.

May be some software glitch since it was working well before?
