Hello Everyone,i'm Phillipe from Panama Republic and i'm brand new to Notebookreview.com,.
Just jumped from Desk to Laptop and i would like to know what is the most i can get out of my current pc.
Currently using a NP9261 Sager notebooke.

i dont expect any fast answer nor anything, but if you have some spare time and would like to help plz toss ur opinions.

1st. im pretty sure this laptop did not come with the internal miniPCI TV tuner. the manual says it should come with some avermedia software if it does have it. it just doesnt have it and i see nothing similar to the tv tuner in the system devices at all.
i have also opened the laptop to do some dust cleaning and dont seem to find the internat port where this tvtuner is supposed to fit.

2nd. would really like to know which is the highest processor this laptop can handle. Currently is running with Q6600 @ 2.4ghz. Saw a thread by a guy that said he sucessfully placed a Q9650, said Sager told him to check his motherboard revision to be 5.4 or up and that they gave him a new BIOS to handle it. i'll check on this latter.

3rd. GPU, currently has 2x nVidia Go7950GTX in SLI. After some research i heard that u are unable to install 8800m without a motherboard swap, so thats a no go. i ran 3dmark for some of the GPUs, found out that my current one outperforms the 8700 but the 8800 kicks my current setup. anyways, id just like to know if there is any gpu that would fit in here with more muscle than the current gpu.

4th and last (promise), RAM, currently running with 4GB (2x 2GB) with 800mhz. all reviews and sites ive seen said that 4GB is top, however sisoftware sandra is saying that its 8GB. wont be dissapointed if 4 is tops, but would like to know if there's anything better than this.

Thx in advance for your help guys.

    1. TV tuner is under the keyboard, the service manual for your unit is in the link in my sig, it shows you where everything is and how to get at it.

    2. I think your mobo revision (as you have the 9261/7950GTX's) tops out at the Q6600/6700, but I'm willing to be corrected on this.

    3. Pretty sure that the 7950GTX is tops again for your revision.

    4. You should be able to put 8GB in there, although it is possible that only 6.8 will be usable due to chipset limitations.

    1. yup, thx to ur sig ill be able to check on it, now its just a matter of checking for a compatible one (ill pray to ebay gods, doubt anything else will work nowadays)

    2. i did see a post of another guy that went Q9650 ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=379910)
ill just try to get in contact with sager somehow (living in panama will make that a bit tough)

    3. yeah, after a lot of research i think that if i find any different is just me fooling myself.

    4. yet i only see the 2 slots, is there any compatible ddr2 4gb ram card? @_@

again thx for the help, im pretty new to laptops and quite glad i found u guys

You have the 8800M GTX mobo revision, I'm not sure if the 926 1 with Go7950GTX will run 1333MHz FSB or not.

well i trust the guy in the other post cause he did have 9261 and upgraded without a problem.

however he said that sager gave him a .20 bios (after confirming he had 5.2v revision)

i am kinda worried about something tho.

Sisoftware sandra is saying i have D900C instead of D901C. i was checking the BIOS thread earlier and saw the one for D901C which im pretty sure is my laptop.
any advice to doublecheck on that?
if it helps at all my mobo has a [NOV 07] sticker on it, and i am 99% sure the BIOS has never been updated, lemme look for that picture with the BIOS boot of my laptop so u can check how bad it is.

The last number in the name refers to the cosmetic design scheme of the notebook. The base chassis is a D900C. I think the D900C has an electric blue color scheme.

For example, my M570TU is technically a M571TU as it is the silver trim version, but the system reports it as being the M570TU.

    SS, sorry to bother again.
im a bit confused, checked the USB BIOS Flashing guide and stuff.
yet when i downloaded the latest bios it has 2 folders and both contain .exe files. like this
    [D90C_H813M] < folder
    H8D900C.13N
    H8Update.exe
    update.bat
    USBEMUOF.EXE
    [D900C_22]
    D9C_22.WPH
    ph1652.exe
    update.bat

seems like a bunch o files to me and with couple .exe is there the need to boot from another media? or should i just run couple .exes?

won't do anything till i know what to do for sure tho.

    thx in advance again

I think the first folder contains the keyboard firmware and the second one contains the system BIOS. I would suggest double checking with a D901C user first before flashing. But I am fairly sure that all you need to do is dump both directories onto your USB stick and run update.bat from D90C_H813M, and then update.bat from D900C_22 after the first one finishes.

SS is right, run update.bat from H813 folder followed by update.bat from 22 folder. Both need to be run from real dos, and you may need to restart between the two.

theriko is corret. The H813 brings your d901c to a state where you can update it with the latest bios. So after running h813 go for the 22 and you'll be up to date =)

    3. i boot DOS from the usb and run h813
    4. reboot and do the same with 22.
    5. enjoy new bios

am i in the right path or surely goin to blow it?

Just make sure you're battery and power supply are plugged into your system and you're good to go.
