Okay, first and foremost, I absolutely love this machine. It's unreal that I can have so much power and am able to take it with me when I travel. Have had this since Wednesday night. Thanks to all 9262 owners on this forum for convincing me that Dell was not a very good idea, and showing me that Sager/Clevo were the way to go.

Alright, some questions. I plan on upgrading this monster down the road in a few months, but my first question is about upgrading the processor. Currently have a Core 2 Quad Q6600 (which is absolutely stunning to have in a freaking laptop). I read here that it is possible to upgrade to the Penryn 45nm Quads, but it needed a bios update. I was wondering how tough it is to swap processors in this machine. Straight forward like a desktop, or need I take special procedures?

Second, I noticed my 8800m GTX is installed on the "Daughter" GPU slot (left of the touchpad). While I myself think it's great because when my fingers are cold during gaming, I just place them on the warm GPU part of the chassis and then all is well. However, it can get quite warm after 4 hours of intense gaming. Would it be a bad idea to swap it over to the other side?

Third, currently using 175.75 drivers for the GTX. It does underclock itself for standard, non-3D tasks. No issues when playing games either, and it does successfully use the 500/1250 clocks for gaming tasks. However, I have noticed some freezing (stutter?) for 1 second during Quake Wars. I was thinking it was a driver issue, but I am not very willing to shift drivers on this machine than I am on the desktop.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to club :)
1)It's not hard if you have swapped desktop CPU's.It's very similar
2)A single 8800 should be in daughter slot.I dnt think you can swap.
3)You can try different driver if you want to.

Dnt forget to monitor temps when gaming with Rivatuner.

Monitored the temps during Quake Wars earlier today. Maxed out spec (but only 2x AA; want to keep the fps high) at 1920x1200 with the fans maxed (Fn+1). GPU temperature did not exceed 55 celcius o_O;;;. That is amazing, as my desktop's 8800 GTS 640MB (G80) floats around 64 celcius at 100% fans.

I actually called Sager about the 8800gtx being installed on the Daughter Slot. They verified it with senior tech that the bios reads it incorrectly and it should read 1st slot or what whatever and the Daughter slot empty. Did that make sense?

Just out of curiousity, did they say what would happen if you switched it over to the other slot?

Actually, on a little reflection, I'm not sure if that's really a mistake. My recollection is that, in PC parlance, the main board is the "mother" board, and any auxiliary or secondary boards, such as a graphics card which, after all, is built on a separate slab of PCB, are called "daughter" boards. Under that rubric, the graphics card should naturally be described as being connected to a "daughter" slot.

Can you post benchmarks of your machine? I'm thinking of getting the same one
