Hmmm i just checked my M570RU and ive got 62Hz.... *shrugs*
-
Hey Gophn, do you know how to find out what screen (i.e. manufacturer) is in our notebook? Sandra? Notebook Control? Something like that to determine what the make and model is? It might be interesting to start a new thread with details on screen types posted.
My WUXGA+ Screen is 60Hz, btw. -
How hot's that thing run with a quad-core processor in there?
-
-
About being drunk, passed the phase, now hanging over, that is
And I was mainly referring to the factory standard.
But now I find out that there are even 62Hz screens...?!
-
who here is still waiting for their NP 9262 with Dual 8800GTX in SLi.?
-
I am one of waiters...
-
I am waiting... for the PCMW version.
-
What worries me is that some folks seem to be reporting 59hz, some 60hz, and some 62hz; all with what one would think are identical screens.
A few years ago I replaced a screen in my old Hitachi laptop. I got the screen from some generic online source. Just as with laptops, there are only a few screen makers who supply all the laptop makers, who then supply the resellers who rebrand the laptops.
So I still wonder why there is a difference in the screens? -
What are you checking that shows it at 59 hz?
my nvidia control panel on my 9262 gives me two options for refresh rate and i can toggle it between 59 and 60.
windows xp 32.
in the advanced section in my display settings, under the monitor tab,i can also choose between 59 and 60. -
59 being the monitor's default (probably) and 60 being what Windows wants you to use. Fight the power!
-
just accept it and nod politely... fighting the power will get you banned in here! Besides, it's foolish to ask questions when you're only spending around 4K for a gaming laptop
-
seriously... this whole refresh rate discussion is not important.
It will not hinder any performance or compatibility issues from 99% of day to day work and gaming.
Only a handful of applications/games (like the flawed Battlefield series) might require a slight configuration edit to make it work... but those are usually older apps/games. New stuff should not have any issues. -
For the love of God, will somebody benchmarck the 9262 already???????
-
cool, good to see im not alone in waiting for my beastie
-
waiting is FUN! I too would appreciate a review or at least some benchmarking to oogle over for a time.
-
Well UPS says mine is suppose to be here tomorrow.
But thats just UPS, and I dont trust them as far as I could throw one of their trucks. -
I really would appreciate a full review.
-
I mailed Sager an xotic regarding the 59hz issue. Both companies say is deff 60hz.
Seems it's a driver issue, 60hz in XP but registers 59hz in Vista. I play lots of Battlefield 2, so I going to configure a dual boot until issue is fixed. Cant wait to get my system, family bringing it from the US to New Zealand later this month, still in phase 2 at the moment with Xotic !!!! -
Welcome to the NBR forums.
What are you doing.... BF2 just needs to get a little lame configuration to play.... geez. (its a no brainer)
All BF2 config files are in "Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\"
the file " Video.con" is what you open.
- change the refresh rate here:
VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x960@75Hz
That is all.
More info here:
http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_7.html
BF2 (and some other BF's) are the only ones that have "issues" with refresh. Newer and better games do not. -
-
Yes BF2 is not exactly taxing! So you will be pleased to know that my 9262 will also get to play the all powerful BF 2142 as well (-:
Was planning on dual boot anyway, but I will try the config file method, have heard that works for some & not others. But thanks for the info. I have gears of war, COD4, crysis and bio shock already to go. They should be a little more taxing -
all games (to my knowledge) do not have any issues with refresh rates... except for the BF series.
I have yet to have any problems on my 1.5 year old gaming notebook with 61Hz refresh rate. (And I have played all BF games on it... doing the easy config edit) -
A full review would be very welcome.
-
I'll chime in on the refresh rate issue, too, because it was a very big deal about 2 years ago (before the Config file edits were discovered). The LG screens that Sager uses DO run at 60 Hz, like several people have mentioned, but even if Vista is locking you in at 59, 61, or 62 Hz, most games are not going to have a problem. The Battlefield series is the ONLY series we've ever heard about with trouble running on a non-standard screen. Most game designers know enough to not force one specific refresh rate.
I think the workaround before the config edit was discovered was to hook up to an external display (set as primary), start up the game, then switch to the notebook display. If I recall, you only had to do this once, but it certainly was annoying. -
Sandra is reporting the current refresh rate on my out of the box 9262 is 60Hz.
-
Any benches?

Hi guys
I wonder why nobody talking about 9262 duo extreme.
Is it better then quad? if so by how much? and I dont mean $ much lol -
In my config I have the Q6700. I am going to wait until the Quad Penryn chips are out and the prices come down and then upgrade to that chip.

Unless you can overclock an Extreme processor it really doesn't make sense to pay the extra money for it. It is what we affectionately call the Intel® Testosterone Trap™
-
Got my laptop and I am posting from it right now
-
Agreeing with Donald, the X6800 (2.8 GHz) isn't even as good as the MUCH cheaper E6850 (3.0 GHz) unless you can overclock it, and the overclock just isn't a good idea in general with the NP926x.
If you're using applications that support multi-threaded computing (high-end professional photo, video, sound, and 3D design applications, and Crysis and about 3 other games), the Core 2 Quad processors are the best thing you can get, because the two extra cores give a noticeable performance boost.
If you're gaming or using applications that need clockspeed more than cores, the E6850 is the best processor you can buy. -
Got my tracking number, scheduled for delivery this week!
-
do these sagers's with lg brand lcd's have the infamous sparkle effect? thats the only thing stopping me

Early December pre-order, tracking number shows scheduled for delivery today, 1/15/08.
-
Need to go to bed now, 'cause when I wake-up, it's CHRISTMAS!!! Well, when UPS comes anyway...
-
my 9262 will be arriving tomorrow. Of course I will be working until 2 hours after the latest possible delivery time so I guess I will be picking it up thursday morning instead. Damn work and fiscal responsibilities!
-
It's in, so I'm gonna' be doing set-up for a while...
-
Lucky bastards
Mine entered phase 2. Waitin and hopin that all goes quickly and without incident
-
Installed Windows XP and reinstalled Vista 64, so dual booting now. Still doing updates/installs. Haven't benched or anything yet. Vista says performance is 5.4 due to hard drive, all other readings are like 5.9, 7200 rpm Hitachi is kinda' slow I guess. Had a couple glitches in XP installing the TV card. Gonna' have to check into that.
