    Hey everyone,
Just back looking for a replacement video card for my 2008 Sager NP9262 laptop. This has outlasted several ASUS, Power-PRO, and Toshiba laptops that we have bought over the years since. It has the Q9650 cpu and upgraded drives and memory, but now the 9800m gt video card has evidently died. Sager support no longer has
this laptop as one that they can repair in any way they say. Also that any video card replacement must be from a sager laptop as the Vbios in them is different form other manufacturer video cards of the same model (they say).
I am posting this here as I cannot access the posting in the Want to Buy forum. I have been a member for several years I believe, but have not posted much, only read a lot of posts here.
Thanks if anyone has any info they can share on this.
    M

Honestly, I would probably suggest contacting Eurocom. It's quite likely they have a replacement video card that you could buy, and you could probably even get them to install it for you as well if you wanted.

Hey, Thanks PK, for the post and info. I have a query into sager tech support to try to determine the vbios of my vid card. Eurocom needs that evidently as they ask for it on the form. Since the 9800 quit working I cannot acces that info in the device manager. BTW, RS player :)?

you have been soooo lucky as thousands of 9800GT cards died way too early. mine lasted only 2 years but luckily i always extend my warranty so got the better 260GTX which is still going strong today. my M860TU is from 2008 and still works perfectly and used daily if only for menial tasks.

as far as i can remember yours can take the next card up from mine so the 280gtx but they will not be easy to find.

I had a Eurocom D901c, which I am fairly certain is the same machine. I swapped cards multiple times (upgraded multiple times) and eventually ended up putting in a Quadro 3700m. Lots of those on Ebay, I'm not sure if specific vbios's on the cards limited their usage—I was fortunate and did a straight swap from my previous card. and it worked straight away.

From what I recall the 280m GTX was not compatible, I believe it has to be a mxm type 2.1, not type 3.0. The type 3.0 cards are 'fatter' whereas type 2.1 he are longer.

    Hope some of that helps.

    sorry about your video card..
on a similar note, sager laptops are awesome,
i bought a NP 5793 back in 2008, it still works to this day, no problems at all. granted the display hinge cracked but, its no big deal! these machines are built to last atleast 10 years!
