I would like to know what are you peeps with NP9262(9800m gtx sli) getting out there in terms of fps for Crysis.

Is it supposed to be playable at 1900x1200 and set on "very high" with 3ghz quad core - 9800m gtx sli .. or is that setting totally unplayable even with that spec.

I am getting 20-25 fps only and i'm hoping someone out there has gotten better performance with that settings so i can get some configuration/driver tips from them ;)

woW im actually really impressed, because crysis isnt exactly the most optimized game, see Warhead, and your getting that high fps with that res and settings... you sir deserve an award. But seriously yes download some configs like xconfig or CCC pack and it has tweaks for very high settings and high perfromance level.

    a good place to start.

Does that mean its actually not supposed to be playable at 1900x1200 at "very high" for any laptop currently? playable as in 30-40 fps in gun fights

Crysis, like we and many many reviewers have said before, is not an optimized game. It does not fully utilize multicores (dual core or quad cores), it is poorly programmed to not even utilize a system's full potential.

Crytek pushed out the game too early since the beta testers (like myself) suggested that the game needed to get optimized... but EA forced them to not have anymore delays.

So .... after that debacle, Crytek overhauled the programming and made Crysis Warhead much much more optimized.

So go play Crysis Warhead if you want to see what Crysis should have been if Crytek had more time to work on the original release.

    _________

Another thing to look at are other games, like Unreal Tournament 3, which was released near the same time as the first Crysis.

Epic did an amazing job optimizing that game to be fully multi-threaded (supports up to 64 threads ... thats 64 cores in a CPU if you got it), the game fully utilizes all aspects of almost any gaming system. That is why it looks and plays so smooth even at the highest of resolutions and settings. I beta tested this game as well, and Epic knew that they wanted the coding to be more important than just eye-candy so that more people will be able to play the game at comfortable settings.
