I see that the new NP5797 has just been released to replace the previous NP5796 and NP5793 models.

I'm wondering if the NP9262 will be refreshed soon? It is the most "desktop replacement" notebook I have ever seen, though I'm disappointed its missing some ports like ESata and HDMI which just about all other current desktop replacement notebooks have, it is relatively an old design from 07.

Since it uses desktop chipsets and processors, it will be exciting hopefully see it next year with the recently released Core i7 processors and chipsets. :)

I second that...wish it had a desktop chipset...like the P45 or some equivalent. That way it could support 16GB of Ram like the dell M6400 and Lenovo W series, and blow those models away with its price/performance. :)

The NP9262 does have a desktop chipset, and can support 8GB of RAM.

No word of this yet. I wish they would have released it when they just released these four new models, though - it would have made sense to coincide with the release of i7.

We'll just have to wait for 2009!

It has been suggested, by those more in the know than I, that we'd do well to wait for CeBIT 2009 in March '09 to see what Clevo decides to introduce.

The fact of the matter is, a system based on i7 is not going to be just a "refresh" like the refresh to the 579x series, but will instead be a completely new system; thus, it is reasonable to make a more ceremonial introduction of the product at something like CeBIT '09.

Come on, everyone knows in the back of their mind that the refresh of the D901 will be when it supports the i7 processors, in fact, in true Clevo fashion, it may be the first laptop to support them. :)

    It's support 6.8 gb because windows can't recognize full 8gb (if I don't missed)

Windows can recognize 128GB. Its supports 8GB physically, but only 6.8 are allocated due to chipset limitations.

wouldnt matter, I do not think any of you guys can even utilize 4GB of RAM..... let alone 8GB.

I seriously only know two people that has gone up to 6GB of RAM usage while editing and rendering massive amounts of high-resolution textures and pics... I am talking about about 20 megapixels of textures/images at one time.

So I would not worry too much about RAM for gaming and typical usage. 4GB is plenty.

My notebook is capped at 2GB's and its been enough for me to do everything (gaming, 2D and 3D media encoding/editing/rendering, etc..). :)

Then again, I like XP since its not a resource hog. If I were to do all of that in Vista, then I would like to have 4GB.

That's me. I max out this 4GB of ram so easy, I wouldn't mind getting more RAM someday. But I can work with it just fine as it is for now. :)

Yea, wow, that would just be prolly one of the BEST things to ever happen. I've been plannin to overhaul the motherboard on this thing for a while, (its the 9260). I just added more RAM and a new HDD. NExt thing needed is a more current GPU and CPU. I'm holding out this upgrade (prolly about 1000$) for the summer anyway. SO if i7 comes but third quarter 09' for this baby, i will be ONE Friggin happy camper!

...but i have a bad gut feeling we're talking a new system altogether :(

I'd be inclined to go with your gut on this one. Since the i7 architecture is so radically different from the current architecture, I cannot see Clevo doing anything other than building a new system altogether.

what I want to see in the next D902C is to get rid of that stupid battery and do triple SLI with 9800GTX's or do a 20' monster with quad SLI :)

didnt you read my Clevo Guide?

calling it a D90 2C would mean that it would have a different color.... like PINK.... and not have anything to do with hardware differences. LOL. :D

    I think I would call a Core i7 model:
    Clevo D900 I series. :)

i did read it but I never remember the whole digit numeration meaning. SO the D910W or whatever, hopefully can do triple SLI or Quad. Its not impossible, it really isnt. I dont know why nobody never give that a thought. Hopefully that will happen some day :)

I hope to see a dual Quad core i7 and 16 GB of Ram and 19'' or 20'', i remember that Boxx has made before a laptop with dual processor from a longtime but they stopped to sale any laptop now.
Hope Sager to take the lead and produce a laptop with 2 processors which will be more pwerfull for 3D works.

as awesome as a new 9262 would be, I'm finding it impossible to resist my BUY IT NOW urge and at the same time already feeling my buyer's remorse.

If the march 09 models are completely overhauled, someone at least assure me that they'll be way more expensive than the current models.

    No they won`t.
They`ll probably have the same price range, and render the D901C series obsolete, and sadly, that`s the truth :p

These high-end Clevo gaming series actually do not become obsolete for at least 3 generations after a model's initial release.

My D900K still games well.... even though it was the fastest back in 2006, its still outperforms mid-range rigs of today. :)

As for waiting until 2009, you must realize that if Clevo does debut a new model in March (at CeBIT), it will take them another 5-6 months to ship it out... so you wont be getting a new notebook until later Q2 or early Q3 2009.

bought my laptop back in september 07 cuz i needed it for college...
a month later, they had the mobo upgrade to support the 8700M and the Q6x00s.... So now i still have a 7950 and E6700. Not that theres anything wrong with that. But yea, it happens. Speaking of Eleron, I think i still owe him a trade-in on his 7950? rite eleron? lol

i never actually did it yet cuz as opposed to buyers remorse. Im having upgraders remorse. Since it would cost over a grand to get a new mobo/gfx card/ and processor, Im basically buying a new laptop just keeping my LCD, keyboard, and DVD drive. lol

but now im hoping i can wait it out and upgrade to the new i7 mobo for this. THat is, if they ever keep the D900 model for this upgrade, But its lasted 3 generations already, and i7 + GT200 models are both probably gonna demand a new environment. I doubt the chassis will still be able to perfect fit both... sadly.. :-/

Hey if we always wait for the next best thing, nobody would ever buy new tech,I look at it this way if and when the D901C series ever has a refresh or upgrade 6 months later they will be something better you wished you upgraded or got.

I think I'll hold out a good while, until the refresh of both i7 and Gtx 280m come out. As good and radically new as i7 is, I'm not so fond of early generation anything, I dont want to see clevo shipping updated i7 a month after I get it, nor can I see the first wave of top end GT200 not overheating somehow.

Also by then components like internal bluray writer and 3X1TB HDD, etc definately will be cheaper.
