Been using my 9262 nwo for about a week and its a great rig, love it to death and have to say I am very happy with it. I have a question though in regards to the heat.

To me it seems unreasonably hot. If I run it in a game the left side up by the corner and eventually all down the left side gets uncomfortably hot. We arent talking warm, hot to the point I cant keep my fingers on the metal case part for extended periods of time. I realize this is where the video is located and am a little concerned about putting a second 8800 in there if this is how hot one is getting. I have ordered the notebook cooler and it shoudl arrive today or tomorrow according to my tracking but I was just wondering has anyone else had this issue.

I have a motherboard monitor runnign and idle the cpu sits at 52/54 under load its 67-70 (if I have a small fan run on the computer) I have had it beep for heat without this small fan blowing on the machine.

Any suggestions woudl be appreciated as well, I dont want this thing destroyign itself due to heat, I have a desktop and realize the heat etc from a 8800 (I have sli in the desktop) but I was worried when it starts to shut itself down due to heat and yes I also have the FN+1 ON all the time, I cant let it control itself or it gets crazy hot.

Sounds like something isn`t working properly, 4 fans should keep the machine very cool. You should contact your supplier and ask what you can do. Worst case scenario, send it back for checking.

I will give them a call, sendign back is a little less of an option since I am located in Canada and Xotic is where I ordered it form, the shipping and stuff back and forth woudl tag on another chunk of change that wont make my pocket book too excited about at this time :) I will give them a call though asap.. ty

I have had my NP9262 for two weeks now and have never been uncomfortable with the heat. It does get warm but nothing that has sparked my attention.

I think something may be wrong with your laptop, perhaps a fan is not turning on properly somewhere.

I have definitely never heard any motherboard beeps.

The heat that I feel in the spots you mention are warm... like... if my food was that warm I'd be putting it back in the microwave for a few more seconds.

Yeah after reading and seeing what components were in it before I urchased it I knew it would be more or less warm like you described Ary, that wasnt what bothered me in the slightest it does get hot as hell though and thats what set me off and wondering if it was just me.. I am waiting for Xotic to opena nd see if there is somethign I can do locally before I send it back, hopefully its just a simple issues that I am overlooking etc..

Thank you for all the feedback on this as it seems there is somethign a little off in my lappy that its gettingthis hot.

Well Justin and Donald both addressed your question. Just adding that my 9262 does not seem to have any heat issues at all. I did do a few temp readings early on, but it is so quite and cool I just use it now.

I would also check the air vents to ensure there is no plastic or anything blocking the flow of air out the back. HP had a problem, post construction there was a thin film of plastic over a particular models vents by mistake, which as you can imagine, caused a build up of heat. It could be one of the fans has failed to initialise, or said fan might have died (dud part) but just speculation on my part ;)

Yeah, but Eurocom has lousy upgrade prices. 100$ for a 35$ WLAN card? The bluetooth price seems also too high for me (60$).

The folks over at Xotic and the Tech support at Sager are just great I have to say. They all understand about the shipping etc and a solution is in the works, once we can narrow down the culprit and whats causing the issue.

I dont want to get into too many details as I am not sure what will overall happen but I will say this much they (both) are very cooperative and are willing to go that little extra for this issue.. Many thanks in that way.

As for Eurocom, I priced it out and Xotic I will say was less expensive for the same configuration by a large amount, enough that even if I have send the laptop back once or even twice it was still worth it to buy from the US, for the configuration I picked. Not to mention the support I have heard of on here, and the support I have received from Xotic and Sager have made me very confident I made the right choice in regards to where I bought my machine.
