I just got my NP9262 and love it, but have noticed one possible issue.
When displaying anything with closely spaced lines I get a very noticble flickering/dithering effect.
I understand this can be common with some lcd displays but it is pretty pronouced and hours of googling hasn't found anyone else reporting this issue with this laptop.

I was wondering if someone else with a D901c with the WUXGA panel could go to http://www.speedtest.net and take a close look at the shading of the map and let me know if they see a shimmer/flicker. OR even more pronouced on the background at http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=113628

I have a feeling I'm just seeing the lcd dithering to simulate 24bit (I'm one of the people who can sees rainbows with dlp projectors). If this is normal I can live with it, but if my display is defective I would like to know so I can get it repaired/replaced.

    Thank you

if it flickers, then it could be:
    - software (usually drivers, config, refresh rate, etc.)
    - hardware (unlikely)

Not so much as flickers but you get a moire kind of effect that shimmers specifically on areas shaded with a cross-hatch.

It happened on 2 clean installs of vista (32Bit, 64Bit, 64Bit SP1) with 2 different versions of the NVidia drivers at 59Hz and 60Hz refresh (the only two available to choose from).

I assume therefore you don't see this effect on those two sites I mentioned?

    Thanks

I don't see anything unusual at either site.

Thanks, I see a RMA coming on.
I also just noticed that the problem goes away if I use 16bit rather than 24/32bit display. Leads me to definately think there is something funky going on with some color dithering in this panel.
Anyone know if these panels are true 24bit, or dithered 18bit?

I recommend to uninstall your drivers (in Safe Mode if you have to).

Then go download the latest drivers for it from Sager's site... and install it.

Oh... didnt read that post. :D

it might be a loose LCD cable or something simple.

Definitely contact your vendor and tell them your issue and what you have tried.

They might be able to walk you through with some others solutions.
