Hey, Im considering the new Sager NP9262 because of what its offering, and the price its offering it at. I want the Quad processor, dual Geforce 8800m's and 4k's of RAM. And it all seems to be totaling around $3,000 roughly. Im just wondering if there's a catch here. I know the dual 8800's wont be available until february; I would wait until then to buy the laptop.

A few friends mentioned Sagers might have reliability problems to me. Any truth to this? Cheap casing, that kinda thing. It seems plausible with the low prices they're offering. So just want advice on the whole purchase!

    Thanks in advance!

You won`t find an SL system with quad and 4 gigs of ram for 3000$. Try more :)
Sager build top of the line systems. Anyone who says otherwise, is just....WRONG :D

Recently the most common problem I saw with Clevo systems was with the paint job, little noise (M570RU/M571RU) and heat under the laptop (D900C/D901C). The paint job problem wasn't really noticeable and the heat under the bigger, meaner and heavier D901C isn't a problem, as you will not keep it on your lap. These issues were encountered on the European models reviewed at NotebookCheck.
Everyone here will say you should buy a Clevo/Sager. Go for it! They make laptops that last a long time and have high quality components inside. I've never heard about critical issues with these laptops (except some rare cases). I don't want to say that no one has problems, but rather than reading this forum you will only see a few major issues and very few complaints. Also, the support is great and the price is great.
In Europe there are only a few resellers that will sell you the D901C (also known in US as the Sager NP9262) and the price isn't that great.
A forum member here bought a barebone from US (from RJTech) and got the rest of the components (such as CPU, HDD, RAM) from Europe. You might want to look into this.
D901C + Quad (Q6600) + SLI + 4GB RAM ~ 3,500US (VAT not included if you want to get it shipped to Europe). That is if you want only one year of warranty and a single HDD (I configured it with a 200GB one). It will set you back to around 4,300+ US.

Thanks, Fade to Black, you´ve been very informative. Its funny, when I customized it on sagernotebook.com I came to $2894.00 + the $695.00 for the Dual 8800 which isnt out yet. So $3589.00. Were you adding Postage and Packing or something? I went with the 250GB hardrive too.

btw is that the site I should be using? Is there one I should be using cuz Im in Ireland? Theres no .ie site?

Other than that Im just wondrin where the $4500.00 came from?

    Thanks again!

No. Go to XoticPc.com or PowerNotebooks.com . As resellers they will offer you a better price for the same units, and better support.

Might not hurt to call the reseller as well. Like ordering a pizza! You never know if there is something more they can do for you :)

The rest of the money would have no doubt come from ram and/or a better CPU, i.e., the 2.66 quad core with go stepping.

I would reccomend looking at similar specs in my sig for the CPU.

No, the rest of the money are from VAT. The price of the system is 3600 + 223 shipping (XoticPC) + 21% VAT (which you will have to pay if you will decide to buy the laptop from US and ship it to Ireland; VAT is added by the customs). It will total to around 4500US (final price).

Ack... VAT... taxes!! Well...is there another option other than shipping from US? ...I e-mailed Sager´s customer support address, asking about shipping details and VAT etc, but they never got back to me. A little disheartening really... So would shipping from US be only way? Have they got like...somewhere....nearby, or something? lol

And Coors916...dude, you got a hot notebook...literally Im sure XD

It's the only way, but at least you can get it from Europe. Try Schenker, DevilTech, XXODD and Nexoc for a complete laptop or RJTech (US) for a barebone and local resellers for the rest of the parts.
It's a though call buying a D901C and that because of the price involved (for Europeans). How much money do you have to spend? Giving up on SLI will save you a lot of money (which I really recommend) and buying the HDDs locally might be an idea. I managed to get you the config you want, but without SLI, at 2704E at Schenker (2 year standard warranty), 2729E at DevilTech (1 year standard warranty), the standard config at XXODD is 3280E (but it's with 8700M GT + 3*200GB HDDs).
First I suggest you should know exactly how much money you will have for this laptop. Second see how much it will cost you from US first, then Europe. If there will be little difference between Europe and US, pick Europe as it will be more convenient to send it for repairs (if you will ever need to). Good luck!

    Fade, you are very right.

I already ordered two Sagers from the US to the Netherlands. The dollar is very, very, very cheap and the dealers in Europe ask insane prices. So DIY would be my suggestion!

Yeah dude, when it arrives, and then the SLI card, should rock the clock!!! I would love to post some benchmarks!!

But actually, apparantley the SLI 8800m gtx's run cooler than the SLI 7950's, or so I have been led to believe, as they also use less power as well (or so I have been led to believe) ;D

Then you can get it from US or Europe, since money isn't a problem. But do you really want to spend that much on a laptop? I would (since I'm a bit enthusiastic about this kind of ****)...
My advise: XoticPC (US) & DevilTech/XODD from Europe. You could use the safe bet: RJTech barebone + EU parts. If something breaks down and it's not the barebone you don't have to send it to US for repairs.
