Hey everyone, Happy New Year. I'll just get to the point here, but during the use to some programs such as FL studio or GTA 4, the computer emits crackle-like noises, which are very annoying. Is this because the card just can't handle processing the sound?

you might want to call the reseller you purchased it from. those are not common problems, at least to me.

The D901C uses one of the best if not the best onboard chipset actually on the market, the Realtek ALC888.

About the crackle noises, update your sound drivers, those problems were fixed since the version 2.XX. Driver 2.13v. dated 31/12/2008: http://www.realtek.com.tw/DOWNLOADS...=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

On FL Studio it's normal some lag and high CPU usage, since onboard sound doesn't support WDM and ASIO.

    ;)

if you are doing any audio editing/mixing/rendering ..... you would best get an external pro-audio soundcard... like from M-Audio.

the on-board sound card is good for overall usage....

to make the sound better on the on-board soundcard:
    - go into "RealTek Sound/Effect Manager"
    - set Environment to "Carpeted Hallway"
    - enable Equalizer
    - set Equalizer to Soft (as in Soft Rock) or Powerful (if you want it louder)

Really, I make loops and music just fine on my system. It's definitely the drivers. As I'm sure the D901C would have just as good if not better sound card than the m860tu. If not, I'm shocked.

Unfortunately the onboard audio chipset implemented on the M860TU and M570TU(ALC662) is not as good as the D901C one(ALC888) and the M570RU one(ALC883).

It's limited to only 96Khz on both DACs and ADCs(vs 192Khz), it has DACs and ADCs with less SNR(signal to noise ratio), can only process 6 channels(vs 10) and no EAX 1.0 and 2.0 support.

It's not as good, but still a good solution... ;)
