im going to wire my payment in 2 hours, but now im still confused about should i do the custom painting or not, because it's going to take 9-16 extra days and all i want to do is to paint it with pearl white.
do you think i should do it now or in the future?

FYI: im bad at waiting.... especially expensive toys.. >_<

    lol

a quick question here, i am going to buy through wire transfer too, but got a bit worried. Does the bank hold the payment until they actually deliver? I mean what receipt or proof can u have ......especially if u live in anther country...OH the headache :(

not really, i think this is the matter of belief. lol
if u're not that confident, use other method, like credit card or paypal?
that's why you must choose ur reseller carefully?
btw, can i know where did u order urs?

i havent, i am checking websites, so far sagernotebooks, powerpc and xoticpc, they have same price, Falcon is more expensive for same spec.
They told me they only except wire-transfer.
I thought maybe i can do i payment to their bank, and the bank holds it until they show them the shipping documents as in normal international transactions. When they asked just to transfer the money i got a worried, never done this before...

Generally a bank is not going to hold onto a wire transfer absent a separate agreement with the bank - i.e., an escrow, for which you'll pay additional fees - as far as they're concerned, you've ordered payment made to the recipient, and whether or not the recipient has performed its end of whatever deal you have with them is between you and the recipient, and does not concern the bank (absent some sort of fraud that would give you a cause of action against the bank, of course :D ).

You do not have to worry about doing a bank wire transfer to Xoticpc. They have been in business since 1998 and have excellent ratings at both the Better Business Bureau and ResellerRatings

    Wire with confidence :)

it can take 9-16 days not including the building and testing processes of the notebook itself. so totally it can take for almost a month in total.

i already wired the payment but i think i still have time to decide as long as it hasnt been shipped yet.

but the problem is, i dont have time to wait.....

    lol

    Let's not say that :(

They never have and they never will cheat a customer. Do your research. They have been in business for over 10 years with one of the highest ratings for Customer Satisfaction in the industry... :)

    ^--^
Well, there are good competitors out there, and there are not so good ones...Xoticpc is a good one so in fairness I don't mind saying so.

Since we don't ship internationally I think Xoticpc is undoubtedly the most reliable Sager reseller that does.

Well, firstly, do your research before you buy. As you should be able to tell from this thread (tho that shouldn't be the only research you do :D ), both xoticpc and powernotebooks are reputable businesses that will not cheat you and will, to the best of their abilities, fulfill your order as ordered.

Secondly, if you ordered X (from a company other than xoticpc or powernotebooks, obviously :D ) and you receive Y, under US law - i.e., the UCC - you should immediately notify the seller that you are "rejecting" the delivered goods as per the UCC, and you should then promptly return the goods along with a request for a full refund. The UCC contains what is known as a "perfect tender" rule which means that the buyer can immediately reject a good for any failure to conform to the order, no matter how trivial - just keep in mind, it has to be done immediately, you cannot use the goods in any way, and you must return the goods in the same state you received them.

In that case, the seller is generally obliged to make a full refund under the UCC, with some caveats and reservations not worth going into here. If the seller in question does not give a refund (obviously, you didn't do business with xoticpc or powernotebooks in this case, so shame on your hypothetical self for not doing so :D :D ), you would then have to seek to enforce the seller's obligation to give you a refund - something that is not going to be easy in the international context.

That last point is why, in general, it may be preferable to use a credit card, because you would probably have an easier time recovering your payment with the assistance of the credit card company than by yourself.

Ultimately, always apply the rule of Caveat Emptor and do your homework before you send money off to someone.

Oh, and have you noticed that ever since that one guy came on here swearing all over the place that many of the posters are slipping in their ability to express themselves without using those off color words?

I have, and it is a shame because this forum used to be a place that held its decorum to a higher standard.

Honest, Paladin44, I've tried to keep 'em all the same colour, but they just won't oblige.:D

But seriously, Paladin44 makes a good point; at the very least, is it so hard to use acronyms, e.g., WTF, or strategically placed asterisks, or the like?

You can always get it painted later on. Why not wait now and make sure that the system is in good working order and that you really want it (appearances and reality can be quite different) before you get it painted. If, for whatever reason, you decide you want to return the system (e.g., too many dead pixels, too big, too heavy, too ....) you'll get a bigger refund if the system is unpainted than if it already has a custom paint-job.

That way, you can get the immediate pleasure of the novelty of the thing out of your system, so you'll be able to be a little more patient when you send it out for painting.

do they really do that? Has anyone done that before? What about the cost - is more if you do it at a later time versus when you first purchase?

There are a few companies that are doing paint jobs...that is not just the resellers, but companies that just do the paint jobs.

You can send your laptop to them at any time. The price should be the same...the painter doesn't care whether it is new or used.

    that's another concern of mine...

hmm... thinking over the weekend.... ^^
