Ok, so this happens very rarely, but every now and again (like once a month or less, I'd guess, and predictably more in games, even low spec games like Majesty). However, the severity is concerning. The issue here is that my screen will randomly go completely white with thin vertical black streaks on it. Usually, it lasts for at most a second, but sometimes, it sticks and the only recovery is to close and reopen the lid. I tried upgrading my drivers once, but it still happens. My current driver is 174.82. Does anyone have any clue on this issue?

i guess you could check if your gpu is overheating using http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
or i know there is this piece of hardware that connects your screen to the motherboard

it happened to me three times but I was overvolted. I went back to stock voltage. but when it happened I wasn't overclocked.
I myself still don't know the reason for it but I did disasembled my system by taking off the keyboard, cpu, gpu fan. (to properly clean it out from dust) )everything except the gpu and the heatsink. that is why I know it didn't have to do anything with my not seating the gpu in right. -
Check the ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard. The 926x series has had problems with that cable getting pinched and developing shorts. While the actual appearance (all white with thin black streaks) isn't something I've seen described before, the fact that you can make it reset itself by closing and reopening the lid strongly suggests that your ribbon cable has suffered a short of some sort.
