I'm probably going to get this machine and I want power, so I'm probably going to get a quad core. My concern though is how hot it will get running a CPU with that kind of power. So could you please post the temperatures you've hit and which processor you're using? Also, please let me know what you were doing that made it hit these temperatures? Thanks!

My 9262 quad-core is supposed to get here today. Single 320 gb 5400 rpm hard drive, single 9800 gtx. I'll let you know.

That's been done more times than I can count (or shake a stick at) - you'd be better off perusing some of the more technical threads on 9262 issues. The main thing with the 9262 has always been the amount of hot exhaust air it puts out, not the temperature the cpu (even quadcore) gets up to - every, and I mean every, post I've seen about those systems, other than the few that have obvious problems elsewhere (e.g., GPUs that weren't properly installed) have consistently reported low temps.

I can not tell you about the temperature because 3 programs give 3 differnt results, I can tell you about the noise. It gets a little noisy when I start to use at least 2 cores, but it does not have problems with th etemps. Also it is important your room temperature. In 22-24 it can run at full load for a long time and adding a cooling pad makes things easier. I was also able to downvolt it, and the temperaures decreased with about 2-3 degrees at full load.

this Clevo D901C (aka. Sager 9262) has the world's best cooling design for any notebook system to date.

All components in there, especially the CPU and GPU(s) are extremely well cooled.

This is the last notebook that I can ever think to overheat.

i can attest to the cooling power of this beast mate.

i have maxed out all 4 cores at 100% when encoding dvds and max temp i got was around 68 degrees. mind you i had fans at max and my Zalman NC2000 was max fans too.

The quads are designed to have a lower temp than Core Duo, around 70ish I think, so when Clevo made them fit into the D901C they made sure they can work there.
And with max fans...you`ll never have any problems.
Besides, you can always undervolt for free :)

Just get a nice laptop cooler man, I just picked up a NZXT Cryo cooler that is really good, the vents on the bottom line up very nice and it pushes out a lot of air with 3 120mm fans.
Surprisingly it's not really as loud as I thought it would be.

I would recommend you to see one at full load see if the noise will bother you, before you buy one.
