Hey all. Just got the NP9262 in my hands today. I ordered it from XoticPC and have nothing but the best things to say about them. I've been up all morning trying to get everything set up. I did not have it come with Vista or anything else pre-installed on it so I am pretty much on my own here.
I am using Windows Vista Ultimate x64 at the moment. After the initial install of the wireless adapter's drivers that came with the notebook it seemed to be working quite well. Unfortunately, things started getting a little weird.
The wireless card in the PC is the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN.

The router I am using is the Belkin F5D7230-4 aka Wireless G Router.

The router was being used by an old Dell and a Toshiba long before today and has not had any problems.
Anyways, like I said, it was working fine then out of nowhere started acting funny. It would connect sometimes then freeze after starting to download something or opening too many web pages simultaneously. After trying to reconnect I would see that it does in fact recognize the router and have a good signal coming from it but it does not properly connect (unless it is random, but it does not last for long). Upon diagnosing using the simple feature that it asks to use after failing to disconnect it simply tells me that it is unable to connect again. All other routers in the area seem to also be working fine.
I updated the wireless drivers with version 11.5.0.32, but this still did not seem to change anything.

I also tried playing with the a/b/g settings on the device properties, but it did not change anything whatsoever. So far I'm thinking it has something to do with 64bit Vista being incompatible with a lot of stuff (could be wrong but I'm very tired).
I am all out of ideas so if anyone has any information or ideas I would really appreciate hearing them.
So far, great machine and I will be sure to put out an extensive review when I have sufficient time.
Also, it might just be me, but I don't think that it sees or even has the built in camera. I see the little circle and what looks like a lens but it does not recognize that it is there. Not a big deal, just wondering why that is.![]()

Have you checked through the Networking and Wireless forum? There's pretty good coverage of subject matter there, and a number of regular posters who have lots of good answers, including wirelessman, blue68f100 and nobscot6.
Just for reference, here's a quick forum seach of the networking and wireless forum on the term " _vista ultimate," listing hits by thread. For example, this thread deals with a _Vista ultimate machine that wouldn't connect to a wireless network that had XP machines on it already - the fix turned out to be pretty simple, though - the MAC filter hadn't been updated. Try a couple of the threads and see if anything fits the bill. If not, have the mods transfer your post to the networking and wireless forum, and see what the good folks there come up with (if you're in the mood, also try pm'ng wirelessman or blue68f100, they're both pretty good - as are most of the other regular posters - don't wanna look like I'm disparaging anyone else).

Thanks Shyster. I'll start reading through threads now.
I'm either way too tired to be doing any of this or I am not able to search for things lol.
EDIT:
Yea I'm just going to put it off until later today after I sleep and am able to pay closer attention to everything. The only reason I posted it in this section was in case someone else that had the same notebook had similar issues.
Chaz if you wouldn't mind deleting this thread I would appreciate it. I'll just repost in the networking section. Thank you. -
Unfortunately, I couldn't think of a more precise search at the time (I'm lazy that way
), so it's probably a good idea to get some zzzz's before you tackle that snarl of threads.

If your computer is not detecting the webcam, try pressing fn+f10 - an unmarked shortcut to enable/disable it. The bluetooth also has an unmarked hotkey (fn+f12) if you have the module installed
-
That did it theriko. Thanks.
EDIT:
Now I just need to figure out what program I need to use it. -
In what way do you mean "use it"?
For video calls you can use anything like skype or messenger, to record stuff the included program does it i think (though there must be better ones out there). As long as the drivers are installed, any program that takes video input should see it. -
I didn't get an included program other than PowerDVD which doesn't seem to be able to use it at all.
-
when you install the drivers it should install a program called videoview (in program files). Have a look to see if it's there.

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
You might have to press Fn+F10 to activate the CAM.

Too late rambo, I said that 5 posts ago... (and yes, that was the problem)

If the prblm is solved then no problem^^

In case anyone else has similar problems I'll post what I found to work in the end.
I figured that the router's original Firmware didn't like my wireless card. So I simply updated that and it seemed to do the trick. Thanks for the help though everyone. -

Haha, yes it is. Especially when it takes long because you never thought to try something that simple.
