Hello!
I'm hoping somebody here can help me with a problem I'm having with my Sager NP9262.
I recently hooked up a Princeton Graphics 24" external monitor to my NP9262 using the VGA port. I've seleted the external monitor as my main monitor, and extended the desktop onto my NP9262 built-in monitor.
The problem is that the built-in monitor turns itself off after being in use for 10 minutes or so.
I set the power options to never go to sleep or turn off the monitor. I've also used Fn-1 to keep the fan on, so I don't think it is a heat issue.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I have a input labeled "DVD" on my monitor that appears to match the HDMI(?) jack on the PC. Should I try that?
I'd appreciate any guidance ...
Mike

That input is probably labeled DVI-D and you could use that for a better quality picture (keeping the entire signal path digital) but I have no idea if it would help your problem.
The 9262 does not have HDMI, only VGA (blue) and DVI (white) -
Thanks for the info. I appreciate it! - Mike

All I can say to help is if it turns off again and the computer is still running, then press the fn key. This should turn the monitor back on. Im not sure how t permantly solve this problem though. Try pressing fn + F7 when connecting the monitor. I'm not sure though if this will turn off the built in monitor.

What OS did you use? If vista, you may try create the new power scheme to change the monitor option. Otherwise system may switch back default after reboot.

and check to make sure you are changing the settings to the correct profile.(speculation) power/balanced/power saver -
It's possible that, because you have an external monitor plugged in, and that monitor is selected as primary, that the system thinks the built-in display unit is not being used, and is therefore turning it off in accordance with your power profile (assuming that you're using a default power profile that contains the option to have the LCD turn off after so many minutes).
Check the power profile you're running under to see if the option to turn the LCD off is enabled and, if it is, disable it and see if that fixes the problem. -
Hey guys that white port in the back is definitely DVI, but I was wondering if it was DVI-D?
