Well got my laptop late last night and did quick 3DMark vantage run on it. I'm not too sure why people complain about the built in speakers on this guy, with the software loaded it gets pretty loud and sounds really good. But running stock all my games run without a single issue so I will continue to run it at that. One weird thhing is when I hit apply on MSI Afterburner it does some screen flickering, if I close the laptop lid and open it up it goes away. I noticed post's about this on Enduro system's, but this does not have it. Any thoughts?

yupyup, go check out the config file in the afterburner directory and change the inofficialoverclockingmode to 2

that should take care of the flickering :)

Thank you sir that did the trick. When stick to the stock voltage what's sort of the conservative safe overclock on these cards? Seen lots of people running different things for benchmarking. I'm just looking for safe gameplay.

So how is your temps when at idle and also in full load on this guy?

at this model enduro is off ,so how much abt to be the power consumption when is at idle?

    congrats for the beast!

    CPU @ Idle = 46C
    CPU @ load = 50C

    GPU @ Idle = 49C
GPU @ Full Load = 71C (I use FN + 1 to enable fan's to high, otherwise it runs around 75C) This was with a 900/1400 overclock playing BF3 for about 2 hours.

As for power consumption I havn't really looked into it. I am using HWInfo64 and don't see anything monitoring the power supply output. Next to hooking up a meter @ the AC outlet any other ideas on how to check for ya?

I will say that this thing is a beast, I pull over 100FPS on most maps in BF3 on ultra with AA turned down and motion blur off. Need to get some new games here in a bit, but it actually plays better than my old AMD Phenom with crossfire 6870's in my opinion. The single GPU handles great and there is no tearing, always sit's around 95+% utilization.

    I'm running 13.2 Beta 5 drivers fyi.

sounds good, glad ure enjoying ur new beast :) id say most cards can do 950/1450 safely, so u could give that a try. otherwise one has to check each gpu since its slightly different from the next, but it sounds like u dont wanna spend too much time on that :)
and yeah, ud need a wattmeter plugged into the socket in order to measure the consumption.

Awesome! Someone with 7970m's in Crossfire. For power I find the Kill-a-Watt is a great cheap device but it doesn't record peak Watts so you have to monitor it during benchmark. Wish they had a version with peak.

Well only a single GPU at the moment. Figure in a year or so I am going to set it up in crossfire. Currently though I'm able to run the titles I play at ultra and lock vsync so I'm a happy camper. I really thought about going with crossfire but in the end figured a laptop pulling a vantage score of 22k+ is plenty.

It's a nice machine, gives you IVY bridge, a second GPU slot and you avoid the enduro issues.

    Hope you enjoy :)

Not to thread jack too much, but I have an identical system with 13.1 drivers and I still have the flickering when applying an overclock even with afterburner overclocking set to 2.

have u tried ocing via amd overdrive? check the OP of the 7970m thread in my sig, update no. 4 to be exact, for the steps necessary to unlock the overdrive option in ccc. ive heard reports saying that overclocking via overdrive circumvents that flickering issue :) see if that helps!

    Hi,

its my first post to this forum, so please be nice :D. I just received my Clevo P370EM. Its great, GPU is 75C in Crysis 3 and 85C in kombustor and im still without foil tape mod and heatsink mod (im going to do that today). I think that there is much bigger potencial in this card (7970m), but i cant find anything about vbios mod for Clevo P370EM. I now that models with Enduro, like P150EM and P170EM cant be overvolting via vBios, but this model has disabled Enduro. So is it possible or not? Thank you and sorry for my bad english.

hm, have u tried ocing ur card(s) at stock voltage first? if so, how high does it go? maybe that would already be enough and no vcore bump necessary ;)

yes i tried. My voltage is 0.975V and i can get 900/1300MHz. Temp are same as stock, maybe 1C higher. Thats why im asking. I think i can get higher with OV to 1.05V. Like i said, im going to do tape mode and put some heatsinks to GPU.I have Notepal U3 so i think my temp will be OK.

EDIT: So can i flash my card? Which vbios can i use? dell or this one from your guide for P150HM (AMD 7970M modded vBIOS for HM laptops) ?

    Thank you for advice! :)

theoretically u should be able to flash the modded HM vbios, since ur iGPU is deactivated as well. also, that vbios has been shown to work on msi and alienware machines as well. but i cant make any promises, since i havent seen a 9370em owner try that yet.

btw, weird that ur stock voltage is so low, it should normaly be at 1.05v. but weve already seen lots of users here with lower stock voltages on their 7970m cards, whatever the reason may be.

If it will not work, it will be still possible flash back to original vBios am i right? it will be only black screen so i have to prepare for blind flashnig too...?? Can i brick my GPU with this? i really tried find something about Clevo P370em and AMD vbios flashing...but nothing.

EDIT: so i succesfully flash vBios with 1.075 OV, it works, but i cant install AMD driver. the old one, which worked with original vbios doesnt work anymore. i tried driver from clevo site, and reinstall it. i tried driver sweeper but nothing.i can see desktop in my native resolution but i cant start CCC , Afterburner dont work too. Any idea wheres problem? Thanks

    Hi lobo96 i have a P370EM with crossfire.
i am using the vbios from here Downloads (i flashed 4 of them for testing) its from alienware dell but it works perfect with my P370EM
make sure you have a backup of your stock vbios

You can use jaybee83 autoexec to flash it as you have to force the vbios flashing.

Thank you :) i already tried it. I tried cca 5 different bioses (Dell or Pxxxhm), GPU worked, but with this PxxxHM vbios didnt work drivers, with dell worked everything fine, but voltage stayed same. I have now OV via AMD overdrive, and its working fine, som i propably leave stock vbios. But thanks for advices. :)

are u using the .xml method to manually adjust Vcore values? or can u change the voltage via the GUI in overdrive directly? would be curious to know!

I am using .xml method. i set voltage to 1.025V and i can get 980MHz Core and 1400MHz memory. 7400 in 3Dmark11.Max temp in game 80C :) im satisfied.

I tried only Crysis 3. Is there some more gpu demanding game? I can try...

Edit: btw is there a way to oc and ov gpu, but leave powersaving (2d clocks) enabled? My gpu is still runing on 3d mode after overclocking...

Crysis 3 is a very good stress test, a little light on CPU but great for the GPU.

Only by flashing the vbios with new clocks, make sure you have the right overclocking mode enabled in the inf.

@lobo: what u could do is stick to the OV but manually force idle clocks via overdrive. thats how i do it in order to have a nice cool and quiet laptop when im not doing anything intensive.

True since its not enduro you can mess with the profiles but bios flashing has always given the most solid results but does carry the usual problems.

yes but vBios isnt working on my card. i tried several dell bioses (with or without OC,with or without OV)....clock has changed, but voltage stayed same...and amd overdrive gives me lowest clock 920MHz for core and 700 for memory so i cant underclock it to 300/150. im going to reinstall afterburner and ati catalyst and we will see...maybe i will try vbios one more time...

:D i dont know, but its working right after reinstall afterburner and drivers :), even 2D cloks are working :O. I dont know how it is possible but im pretty happy :D. it automatic downclock to 300/150 if i am not playing, and in game im using 980/1500... temps are higher - max 85C in crysis 3 but i think its ok, right?
