Since the 9370 lacks optimus support, can you output to a 3DTV via HDMI and play games in 3D with the 680m SLI setup?

Has anyone who owns one tried this?

i would of thought that shouldnt be a problem. you dont need optimus to output to a tv.
plug it in and change tv to dvi input. works fine on my m860tu which only has a dedicated graphics card.

I think what you're referring to is a recent slew of questions regarding Optimus and 3D support I've been getting. I'm not sure where it started but the jist of it is that people are under the impression that Optimus is required for 3D to work. What the truth is that it'll work with either. When Optimus is present and the integrated GPU is active, you won't get 3D support due to the HD4000 not being powerful enough, so the dedicated card is pretty much required to stay on. The 9370 won't have a problem outputting 3D granted the right cables and monitor are used.

It's actually the opposite...When optimus is present, the output on HDMI defaults to the HD4000.

Have you guys tried this at XoticPC with a 9370? I don't want to buy any special cables, just HDMI out to my Samsung 8000 LED TV...This should work, but just want to be sure before I drop 3k on this laptop.

I'm not sure if what I meant was misunderstood. I was trying to elaborate on the questions being raised on this model to me as of late when talking with customers. I've been asked a number of times as of late if Optimus HAD to be activated for 3D support to be enabled. I agree with your statement but want to change the wording. Optimus can be present in the system without it being activated. When Optimus is activated on a system with Optimus present, yes the HD4000 will be active and 3D support is not possible. However when Optimus is not active on a system with Optimus present, that means the dedicated card is enabled and 3D support is present.

The question of this topic however is will the 3D support still be in the 9370 despite the lack of Optimus technology being present. My answer previous as well as with this elaboration is yes, 3D support is well and alive in the 9370 and you'll have no trouble using it granted the right cables and monitor are used.
