If you have specific requirements, try emailing resellers and asking to see if they can get what you want.

let me ask it differently; between those three...the only difference is cosmetics and/or having more possible space/slots? and do all models have a backlit keyboard? all the pictures look the same to me between the three, at least, what I am using as reference so I can't tell the difference at all besides the model#

The differences are minor and cosmetic. All have a the same basic things like backlit keyboard and HDD slots.

I ended up ordering the 980m sli with the 120hz panel from Prostar. Just got tired of waiting on one of the big brands like Asus, MSi, or Gigabyte to offer something with a higher refresh rate. I think I'll be happy with this purchase until Alienware announces their lineup. If they drop something impressive then I may sell and make the switch at that time. Never owned a Clevo barebones so I'm hoping the quality is there.

I just received my 120hz screen today. I will install it. Anyone out there who wants to upgrade their clevo p37x screens, I fully recommend laptopscreen.com
They have great prices, they ship exactly what they put on the website, no aftermarket compatible bullsh*t, and they have 3 year warranty.

Edit: the compatible screen is LP173WF2(TP)(B1) plus you need the cable, which I ordered from eurocom.

Have u ever used a 120Hz or 144Hz monitor? The difference with a 60Hz one is so brutal that you can tell by just moving the mouse in the desktop, 120Hz it's a million times smoother.

About the glossy screen, you can order one from LaptopScreens cheap and change it yourself.

I cancelled my order for the 980m sli. Let me know how it goes with the 120hz screen. If everything works good I'll just buy a 970m sli setup like I originally wanted and add the screen like your doing.

I am expecting great things from 980m sli. Yet, I cannot find a single benchmark or gameplay of it. I know it's a niche market but is there really no one doing it lol

i have, i actually currently on a 120hz. i switched it to 60hz cause it was way too fluid for me, which I did not like. It's like trying to watch a movie on 60fps which doesn't not sit well with me.

different stroke for different folks, i guess. more fps = doesn'tmean it's good / i like personally

That's most likely because you are used to 60hz, try it for a few days and it will likely become more natural.

I did, I think probably for like a good month because like you people asked me to give it a try cause it was awesomesauce. This is also including watching movies and TV's on 60fps. It irritated me and wasn't able to enjoy the movies or games at that fluidness.

The screen I was used is from SAMSUNG so it wasn't a horrible screen either.

    Hello Everyone,

I am extremely serious about buying this laptop. I actually like the old fashion keyboard slightly better than the new Titan. I like the traditional look and feel better. I think the kicker though of why I would by this laptop over the Titan though is the 120HZ screen if it is still possible to replace the screen with the 120HZ version.

I just had a few questions:
    Is it still possible?
    Is the replaced screen amazing?
    IPS?
    Is it hard?
Is it worth buying this over the Titan because of this feature alone?
Is there a guide to where I can find a step by step on how to do it?

Thank you for helping me because this is a lot of money and I do not want to make the wrong decision.

In a sager machine I believe it is.
It's a good screen, it's mostly that high frame rate for those who really like it.
IPS is too slow to do high refresh rates properly so it's TN.
It is a little, mostly because you the need the right cable, fitting it is ok if you have patient.
That's up to you to decide, it's certainly a lot more portable.
    I don't have a guide to hand.

Sager are not offering it so that rules out sager resellers.

I checked Eurocom and I do not see a drop down box when building my system to select a 120HZ screen.

Do I have to call or email them to do it?

SO.... It's entirely possible that my brain is just fried tonight

But I got confused reading this thread and all the various answers given. Is there, in fact, a 120hz screen available for us 9377ers?

Looks like it is possible as HIDevolution offers it currently on their configuration page.
Sager is not offering it though so any Sager resellers can not offer it or get the screen.

The LP173WF2-TPB1 screen can be put in any P3xxSM or P3xxSM-A model from Clevo. End of story. As to whether or not your machine has the correct eDP connector soldered to your motherboard (which it should be, but there is a possibility it might not be, for whatever reason) and as to whether or not you find a reseller who sells it out-the-gate? That's a different story.

Eurocom offers it on their website.
HIDevolution offers it on their website.
Sager, Mythlogic, mySN, scan UK, Metabox, etc do NOT offer it.

It does not mean you cannot put it in the screen aftermarket.

My P570Wm does not have the 50 pin eDP connector soldered on for instance. But as D2 said if everything is there then it is physically possible.

The answer was in your quote, sager resellers do not offer it because sager do not.

As Meaker mentioned, we are limited quite a bit by what Sager offers. While we do offer a few things they do not, there are some things we just haven't been about to source. This would be a good option to dig deeper for though.

I would call around and ask depending on the configuration and upgrades will depend on any offers but sager dictate a lot of the pricing since they are building it.

as one of the more active reseller on this site, do you think it's possible for xoticpc.com to find out why the 120hz screen availability is not offered, while the clevo variant has that build option (eurocom x8, Hidevolution, etc)? It's simple supply and demand, I'm sure this is a business impact to find out the source of the issue.

They are not in production. Have not been since 2010/2011 (depending on model). Only four panels were ever created. There is one 16" panel, but no 16" laptops exist so...
All other 120Hz panels for mobile form factors were under 1080p in resolution, and thus largely a reason why they were not used prior to optimus' prevalence since 1080p was the standard from even as far back as 2008 (as far as I know).

Sager cannot get stock for them. Neither reliable stock for the 90% glossy AUO panel. Neither for the 95% glossy AUO panel in the 15" models. So they dropped them. Eurocom says they stocked up on a lot of things so they can sell them. HIDevolution probably did the same. Just stocked up on replacement parts etc.

Sager sells a lot more machines than most in the US, so unless they can buy in bulk of thousands they probably don't order the parts. So sad to see 3D laptops die off though. So sad.

Look at the trend in laptops. High response time IPS panels are the craze. Thin, light, overheating laptops are the craze. Soldered-to-board, TDP-locked junk is the craze. M.2 overheating SSD craze chasing speeds that are bottlenecked by CPU/RAM in real-world applications that do not involve large amounts of data transfer.

Laptop hardware is getting worse, not better, and people aren't fighting for the good stuff. When the good stuff was there, not enough people wanted it. Now that it's gone, the small set of people that did want/care about it have to hunt for gems in the rough. And people are hooked on marketing gimmicks like "4K" and "IPS" and all sorts of meaningless, useless-in-the-real-world things... but it sells, and that's all that matters.

If you want the good stuff, you gotta put in some elbow grease and/or fork out the cash.
