Just ordered a Sager NP9778. At the last minute I decided to give RAID0 a try- few applications where I thought it might help a couple of applications I use a lot. Figured it can't hurt.
My question is about the OS- I really did not want to move to Win 10. I ordered it as Win7 Pro with the intention of upgrading immediately to 8.1 (I know no one else likes it) Then took a look around the net for more infor on using RAID with the NVMe drives and opted to change it to Win10, just looked like a safer bet.
Can I downgrade to Win8.1? Is that more difficult with Raid settings? Will 8.1 behave well with these drives in Raid?
OR should I just suck it up and deal with Win 10?

RAID or no RAID has no bearing on your ability to downgrade, although Windows 10 allows for the option to downgrade to your previously installed copy of Windows only (i.e. if you went from 7 to 10, you can downgrade back to 7, but not to 8.1; you would need to do a clean install of Windows 8.1 in that scenario).
8.1 works fine with RAID. Go with whichever OS you prefer, although Win 10 is probably the more viable choice. -

I think it's more the NVME raid situation, if you are doing the fresh install approach there are some guides out there for the process.

Thanks, ordered it with the W10 installed to avoid headaches-had seen that the NVME mattered. Got a hunch I'll just learn to be happy with W10- I'm sure I'll be happy with the machine (replacing a 9150)

Windows 8 might be better.
The installation method is the same as Windows 10, see:
