    http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/03/nvidia-gets-official-with-geforce-9m-series-of-laptop-gpus/

+ New graphics engine that delivers up to 40% faster performance than the previous generation of GeForce notebook GPUs and up to 10x faster than generic integrated graphics solutions
+ New PureVideo® HD video processing for improved color and contrast
+ Full support for the latest Blu-ray Profile 2.0 features and Blu-ray Live
+ Extensive multi-display connectivity with support for all the latest display standards including DVI, HDMI 1.3, Display Port 1.1, and VGA
+ Support for the new MXM version 3.0 graphics module specification

are we seeing some new 9x cards then as the 9 series we have seen this far is not 40% faster....

They have links on their site to the 9M series, but they excluded everything from the 9650M up. But I simply replaced 9600 in the URL with 9800 and found this http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9800m_gt.html . Maybe it wasn't hidden , and I just didn't look hard enough, but if it was hidden I feel pretty good about myself for finding it.

edit: The link, however, doesn't provide any real information on it that is that ground breaking (no specs really), but it's there none the less.

Put an 'x' at the end to make it 'gtx' and you get the 9800M GTX page.

I did the same thing :)

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9800m_gtx.html

    Hybrid SLI Technology X
    Blu-Ray BD Live Support X
    Vista Premium Support X
    Compute Cores 112
    Gigaflops 420

Not so lazer cut as the old 8800M GTX with only 96 SPs (aka Compute Cores I guess) :)
Also a jump from 360 Gigaflops to 420 Gigaflops. Not bad whatever of that is translated to gaming, most probably a 16% increase in performance against the 8800M GTX on a single card (unlike the 40% one might expect from "up to 40%").

This is the 8800M GTX I was waiting for. In SLi we migh reach now the 16000 or even go over it with no OC :). I'm using a conservative 20% increase in performance in SLi since one gets 16% increase in a non SLi config. Anyway these things are not at all linear.

    Trance
PS: That was a good race :) lolol.

Strange that the 9800GT has better specs than the 9800GTS. We don't know all the specs, but doesn't that seem a bit off?

so they will have a very full mobile line up i take it. hopefully the mid range performs a little bit better.

i mean, im happy with my 8600m gt because it is a lot faster than the x1600 / 7600 that i WAS going to get, but its still a long, long toss away from the more powerful 8800 cards.

Based on the very limited specs that we have from Nvidia's site, the 9600mGT matches up with the 8700mGT. That's alright, I guess.

i hope they can keep to that as i will be getting a 9800 either way. if i coulod get it with my initial delivery that would be great.

Ill do an upgrade to it when it actualy does come out, but it just sems a bit wastefull to be upgrading my GPU just by a little bit only after about 2 months of buying laptop.

    hell yea!
    8800m gts/gtx - 1 core
    9800m gtx - 112 CORES
    that's 111 cores different! :D

Anyway, in all seriousness, I can no longer accsess those pages either. Did anyone manage to get specs on the 9800M GTS before they went down?

no man, just think when all the bugs are finally worked out and your 8800 is running great, you'll be reading people's rants on this site about how their 9800 is all funky and not 100% reliable... is it really that big of an upgrade anyways? The 8800gtx can run pretty much anything on the market maxed out!
GO 8800M GTX WOOT, AWESOME, DIE 9800 DIE!!!
    DEATH TO 9X!!!!!!!

---> edit: my 8800m GTX is running great! OMG finally got to play bioshock (maxed) on my friends 60" plasma... OMFG

I thought I would look into this and heres what I found. If we look at how the high end 8 series mobile, which where really designed off the G90 architecture then perhaps this carries over to the high end 9 series mobile cards and they are designed off the same architecture as the gtx 280.

    http://www.dailytech.com/Nextgen+NVIDIA+GeForce+Specifications+Unveiled/article11842.htm
" NVIDIA documentation claims these second-generation unified shaders perform 50 percent better than the shaders found on the D9 cards released earlier this year. "
    http://www.gpureview.com/
"In the past few days, tons of information about nVidia's next generation video cards has surfaced. It seems the true heir to the ground-breaking GeForce 8 Series has finally arrived. Specs are listed below, note that the stream processors in these new cards are supposedly 50% faster than those in the GeForce 8 series."

Bwhxeon sorry but no way... there is not a chance in a blue moon that the 9800m GTX will be based off the same architecture as the GTX 280.. that card is so hot in its desktop version than nivida has been required by law to put health warnings on the heatskins so people to burn flesh.

the 9800m GTX is based off the same core as the 8800m GTX just that its able to suport hybrid Sli and has less stream processors cut (and more/different ram) and possibly higher clocks.

not to mention that the GTX 280 and GTX 260 are not even part of the 9 series and will effectively be Gforce 10 series'

i think the whole 40% improvement is comparing 2 lower end cards from the 8 and 9 series mobile ... not the top end naturaly they will find the biggest difference possible. which is clearly not 18 more stream processors on a 8800m GTX to 9800m GTX

The new cards are so hot because they are gonna be so freaken huge, not because its a new architecture. The info I provided is stating that the "stream processors" is the focus, not how many there are, but how they are fabricated.
Nvidia is advertising a 40% increase on all their higher end models, not just the 9800m gtx. As for higher end models, these are the models that are not even sold yet and probably wont be sold for atleast another month.

the new GTS is based on G94 (9600gt) core though not G92 (8800m).
They are different architectures so you can hardly compare the two based on SP's alone. The 9600gt desktop performs pretty well considering its tech specs so I wouldn't give up on it just yet

Ok can we add everything we know about the still unspecified 9M series cards?

    9800M GTX - 112 SP's, 420 Gflops shader calculations
    9800M GTS - ? ?
    9700M GTS - 48 SP's, 180 Gflops shader calculations
    9700M GT - 32 SP's, 148 Gflops shader calculations

Driedal posited that the 9700 GT/GTS might be on par with the 8800M GTX and to me that just sounds silly however we don't know yet. It would be useful to have all the information in 1 post. Maybe we can sticky this thread too?
