I am really confused on this, and have been researching this computer heavily...I have an order in to Origin with their Matte, which I presume is the stock matte screen from Sager.

Is this the 72% gamut Chin Mei screen?

It is best to ask the reseller directly, which is what I did for my order and confirmed my stock matte screen is indeed 72% colour gamut.

I ordered the stock matte screen and received the Chi Mei N173HGE-L11 (CMO1720), which is indeed 72% NTSC

Did you order direct from Sager or from a reseller?

Also, is the Chi Mei the same quality-wise versus the AUO?

The spec on the Chi-mei is similar to the AUO one. About the same max brightness and contrast, both pretty good. Only question would be viewing angles (since the specs on that are meaningless) and I can't help you there having never seen them side by side.

I got mine from Reflex Notebooks, which is a Sager reseller.I doubt you'd be able to see any real difference between the AUO and Chi Mei.

I think the matte and glossy stock on the NP9150 are 60%, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, looks like it is 60%... I saw it in another thread. Thanks!

Not to confuse the thread, but late last night I was checking the screen options for the 9150, and decided to get the 9150 w/95% matte screen option upgrade direct from Sager.

It seems that the only matte option for the 9170 is indeed the 72% gamut...So that's good news for anyone looking at the 17".

Funnily enough, I ordered the $149 matte option in my NP9170 (from XoticPC) and also got that same display (CMO1720). Guess its time I sent them an email. Everyone keeps saying the NP9170 stock is matte (but xotic's is glossy), then there's the $30 matte, and the $149 matte. Would be nice to know the actual manufacturer and model numbers for the different options.

By "stock matte", most people are referring to the 30$ matte screen upgrade. The true stock screen on both the 9150 and the 9170 is glossy.

Different resellers have different pricing options on some things. So for example some resellers have matte and glossy at the same price so you might consider them the "stock" matte and glossy options. The fact that xoticpc has a $30 matte upgrade and a $149 matte upgrade does confuse me but then I'm happy I got an awesome matte screen for $30 so I'm not really one to complain.
