Have a 3 month old Sager NP2096. Last night my son turned it on to do his homework and got past the Sager splash screen and that was it. No Vista boot. Just a black screen. Hard drive light stayed on.

    Tried repair install...no change.
    Tried System Restore...no change.
Tried safe mode...computer froze after loading CRCDRIVER.SYS
Tried memory test. Froze at 99% done. Yes froze. 15 minutes, no change.

I don't know what else to try. Only option is to re-install everything.
As it is, when I got this laptop, I asked for help with certain items. Some software was deleted to speed up boot time. Others were deleted as useless. (WOW) If I have to re-install, I am nervous as hell. I have no idea what drivers I actually need or don't need to re-install everything.

i believe u've got 2 memory sticks, right? download memtest, take 1 out and pass at least 2 times this test. if it successful, replace this stick with another one and try do it again. if test can not be finished - memory stick gone.

this will help u to determine which 1 is gone. order the new one either from vendor of your lappy, either online (depends on your warranty).

after this post results here. if it's succesful - this will help some1 in future, if not - let's invent smth else ;)

    PS. "don't worry, be happy" (c) :D
