Both of my nVidia GPUs have gone to crap on my NP9262. I've managed to resurrect one of them over and over by heating it up with a heat gun, however, I'm getting REALLY TIRED of doing that.

I don't want/need incredible performance right now. I do intend to buy another computer in the future, but right now, I'm trying to save my money. Thus, simply buying another graphics card would probably be cheaper. Not to mention, I intend to keep this computer functional for a while, even after it's no longer my main machine.

With that said, what cards do you guys recommend? I don't mind going with nVidia again as I have other cards that have lasted much longer without any problems (I'm convinced these two were from a bad batch).

I don't want to spend too much more than necessary. Thanks.

Lots of cards out there for that unit.

Ebay is probably your best bet.
I have upgraded my 9262 twice with cards from these guys: Laptop Parts, Wifi Card - Laptop PC items in AtlantaTech store on eBay! . They usually only have Quadro Cards available though. The best you can put in would be a 3700m but it looks like the one they have available right now is non-functioning. Or a 280m gtx (make sure it is the 2.1 mxm Type IV, or a 9800gtx is damn close in performance)

I have a 2700m I am not using which I would be happy to send off to you free of charge provided you pay for shipping (from Canada). It was working a year ago no promises now though it has just been sitting on a shelf; I have since gone to a 3700m (from Atlanta Tech).

    Best of luck.

    quantumPSI,
man I had the same problem, look at NEED PRO help, the problem started like 6 to 8 month back, and I guess I didnt notice it, you see, my cards were not accepting any new drivers, and like 10 days ago. I couldnt Resurrect my swapping them, so I burned them.
One of them is working perfect, and to my astonishment I can now install the new drivers , before nothing but the old 2008 drivers worked, i dont know how to explain it, but also the picture is more clear, maybe they were faulty from the beginning, I got so excited that I burned the second card, but some soldering on the capacitors and some connectors melted and they moved from place, so I dont know how to fix that, im afraid if i try to fix and put in the computer I might burn the board. Just living with a 9800 mGTX now, not sure how much performance I will loose.
It is really an issue, because you cant buy a replacement and you cant fix, it is really sad that some companies will charge you + 700 $ for a an old card like that !!!! :(

Hey guys, thanks for the information. Before I go shopping, how do I know which cards will function (and fit) with my machine?

Although I am not afraid to take it (or anything for that matter) apart, I'm not familiar with the specifications/compatibility.

I'm guessing "2.1 mxm Type IV" would be what I'm looking for?

    Thanks again.

I've got two working 9800M GTX cards in my old NP9262 (see sig.). They're up for grabs now that I've pretty much moved on to my new rig. Could be a bargain, but only if you're in Europe though

Unfortunately, I'm not in Europe. If you can guarantee their function, I'll happily cover the cost of shipping.

Shoot me a PM with your price.
