    Hi guys,

Currently I own a P151EM Modded with i7 3610qm + 7970m, It runs perfectly fine with a 210W Dell's AC adapter, since recently I have to take it around a lot, the 210W adapter is somewhat bucky and it takes a lot of space.

I decided to buy a new Asus AC adapter with 180W output. I really need to know that if I use this 180W adapter, will my P151EM run normally? If I play game or do some 3D rendering whatever which might max out my 7970m, will this adapter be sufficient enough? Will it become hotter than the larger output 210W adapter?

I once got BSODs a couple of time while playing game on my rigs with the original 120W adapter because of the weak output.

Here's the picture of the AC that I'm gonna buy (click to zoom). T2ccJKXXXdXXXXXXXX_!!303555614.jpg T2ZAdHXd0NXXXXXXXX_!!303555614.jpg T2ksuCXa4cXXXXXXXX_!!303555614.jpg T2p6W4XaJaXXXXXXXX_!!303555614.jpg T2wilRXXleXXXXXXXX_!!303555614.jpg

    Input: 100-240V~2.25A 50-60Hz
    Output: 19V - 9.5A

    Thanks in advance!

180W is fine for the 7970M, the tip needs to be 5.5*2.5mm and the voltage needs to be 19-19.5V so it looks like you are ok.

How did you use the dell 210W adater? Sureley it has a different tip? Do you have a link?

Thanks a lot Meaker! The 210W I am using seems to have a different tips but it just works fine with my P151EM, I checked my 120W adapter for P151EM and it's 5.5*2.5mm.

    I got some pics on the store about the 210W I'm using: T2fei3XntaXXXXXXXX_!!170617498.jpg T2tFm9Xe8XXXXXXXXX_!!685231405.jpg T27wC8XcFaXXXXXXXX_!!685231405.jpg T2taW8XoxaXXXXXXXX_!!685231405.jpg

    It's 7.4*5.0mm instead.

And will this 180W get hotter than the 210W? My 210W runs pretty cool except heavy gaming in summer without turning the air con on :).

A 7.4 mm barrel with centre pin would not fit in your current machine :/ are you sure you don't already have a 180w brick.

    Sorry for the late reply.

Looks like I mistook my adapter with another one, this is the tip of my own adapter (photo taken by my phone so the quality is a little bad)

The tip sure is 5.5*2.5mm, since the output power and the appearance look almost the same, I didn't expect that there are more than one model of Dell 210W adapter,.

Anyway thank you, I'm gonna purchase the 180W :).

If you could, can you post a pic of your adapter label showing model number and output please?

    Here you go.

My camera is rather bad so I will write out the model number:

    Model: DA210PE1-00

    Output: 19.5V 10.8A

Looks like your brick came pre modified then as the tip it has can't be original.
