I just bought a 9800M GT for my Clevo M570RU and I'm quite nervous about going through the upgrade process. This is something I haven't done with a laptop before so I'm quite fearful of things simply not running/working.

There's a couple things I'm not sure how to do: upgrading BIOS (and where to get one) and how to remove and replace the physical cards. Could anyone point me in the right direction, or provide me a quick step-by-step of what to do?

The newest kbc firmware is 1.00.09
    The newest BIOS is 1.00.11
    Flash the KBC first.

To upgrade the gfx cards, look at the service manual

Here's the best guide I can give you without giving you pictures and a service manual:

    1. Turn off the laptop and remove the bottom component bay cover.
    2. Remove the four screws attaching the heatsink to the video card.
    3. Remove the heatsink.
    4. Remove the three screws attaching the video card to its socket.
    5. Carefully remove the video card.

Repeat the process to install the new one.

The BIOS update doesn't work, nor does the EC firmware. It prompts when I open it:

I am using Home Premium x64. Where can I find 64-bit versions of these drivers?

    *edit* nevermind.

Okay, so I have the card installed, the BIOS and ED firmware updated and I'm on the latest drivers. Slight problem.

My external monitor isn't displaying at all, but my computer seems to recognize that the DVI cable is plugged in and it will display the monitor's name after a little bit (it's a BenQ FP241VW by the way, and worked fine before I upgraded). I'm really not sure what the deal is here. The monitor does detect, however, when the DVI cable is plugged in, but just says there's no signal.

Could it be a driver problem?

:edit: Okay, so I tried Dox's version of the newest drivers after initially installing the unmodified ones; still nothing. I really am stumped -- help!

Try using the standard clevo/sager graphics drivers (for testing purposes)

Alright -- I'll look into it and get back to you when I do a rollback.
