I've recently received (from XoticPC) a Sager NP6165 and am having serious trouble starting it up. I was under the impression that I could basically push the power button and the home screen would boot up automatically. I get the black screen with the message:
"Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Series v2.46 (03/23/12)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM
Reboot and select proper boot device
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"
I'm at a loss as to what to do at this point. Only the Windows 7 Premium recovery/installation disc included with the laptop gets going and when prompted to install drivers (which I thought were already in working shape like the OS) I can see that the Boot drive is nearly full with what I need.
I can't get past that point and, as I said, have no clue what I'm doing. Any help would be appreciated.

A quick google has hinted that this error has something to do with an incorrectly installed HDD? I don't understand how it would have passed the "testing phase" if this were the case.

I think your machine is trying to "Network Boot". It is possible to boot some computers over the network. Try changing your boot settings to disable "network boot" or "PXE". If you can't disable it, move that option all the way to the bottom of the list.
Also make sure that your CD drive appears higher in the list than your harddrive.
EDIT:
Also, I don't think it's necessarily your hard drive being installed incorrectly, your "boot order" is hopefully all that is incorrect.
