Hi guys,
I'm hoping to get a little help determining what my options are for video cards in this machine. I contacted Sager and was informed that the 260m GTX would not be compatible with this model. Is that correct? And is that true of the FX 3700m as well?
I would really like to bring this laptop back to life. What are my options?
Thanks

GTX260m MXM 2.1 will be compatible though it is not in the support list. I just use a 9800mgtx flashed as GTX260M.
GTX260m MXM 3.0 is not compatible at all...
BTW:How much did they charge? More than $250(new)/$200(used) for a 280m/260m MXM 2.1 would be quite overpriced. -

Did your video card end up going bad? Have you inquired with Sager to see if they can repair or replace that card? As an older system, your upgrading options (if any) will be extremely limited and it will be tough to find the cards to go with that machine. If I am not mistaken, that machine was able to go to a 8800 card, but that was only after a motherboard upgrade. With the cost that will be involved with a rare GPU, you might be better suited looking at replacing the system.

Saltius: They didn't offer to sell me one, just told me all the video models for that laptop had been phased out. I'm not stuck on a GTX260m, that is just what I read might work. Perhaps a better way of stating my original question would be what video cards will work with the NP9261. Thanks for your reply.

Brett: Yes the card went bad. Sager did not say if they could repair it, but I asked about purchasing one and was told no.

Here is a video card list from latest 1.00.22 motherboard bios.
NOTE: Cards in that list will be compatible with D901C rev6.x aka Sager NP9262.
However, what we have are rev 5.x one aka. NP9261.
8800MGTX, 9800MGTS, 9800MGTX, and FX3700M will NOT post on our rev5.x's built-in screen.
To make them work, you should pull up external monitor to perform vbios flashing.
8800MGTX flashed to 9800MGT.
9800MGTX flashed to GTX260M.
9800MGTS: no sollution.
FX3700M: no one ever made a test that succeed.
Also, there are some cards compatible with rev 5.x D901C though not in that list:
GTX260M MXM 2.1 version and I suppose GTX280M MXM2.1 will be compatible as well.
FX3600M flashed to 9800MGT.Attached Files:

Thanks Saltius, exactly the thing I was looking for. Funny, I tried the bake technique described elsewhere in these forums and brought my card back to life. I understand this is just a temporary fix, but very helpful never the less.
