I'm trying to overclock my 9800m GTS with RivaTuner. But when i go to the settings to change the clocks it wont allow me to go over 600 for core clock, 1200 for shader clock, and 450 for memory clock. Is there something i have to do so i can set it above those values? Also what is a descent temp. At idle mines curently running at 40C at stock.

Why don't you just use NVIDIA control panel?

I don't think you can change the clock settings with the nvidia control panel

It's a really bad idea to overclock your laptop GPU with a program designed to overclock desktop GPUs. If you really wanna overclock though, you'll need to flash the vBIOS. There are several threads on this board explaining that. Just be very careful about it...

Nvidia's 179.28 has granted the ability to overclock 9800m GPUs with ntune 6.03.

nvidia took the hassle out of over clocking the gpu so feel free and have at it.
you can go a few clicks above stock and notice a change. just dont get to happy though..lol. once you start over clockin...all that will happen is....you'll want more and more...lol

600/1500/900 is the standard 9800m Gt overclock. If you haven't flashed to 1.05 voltage, you shouldn't go any higher, and you might have to go a little bit lower. My maximum, proven to be safe OC is 610/1525/950, but I only use it for benchmarking.

By the way, I've been meaning to ask.

Have you tried 1.1v on the 9800m GT at all? My max temp without my nc2000 is about 75 degrees, 60s with the cooler. I'm wondering if I can push the extra voltage and get some extra clocks out of it.

voltage seems to be up in the air... some say you can and others say you can't.

i tried with the 9800m gt's and it didn't change or do anything different, but when i tried to up the voltage to 1.06 with my 9800m gtx's it blue screened and would never start correctly till i put it back to 1.05. my video string is 0617 @1.0 or 1.05.

and you can still only get so much from over clocking a gpu....i only over clock to run benchmarks.. most of the time im running stock. even when running one gpu im still running stock. but in some instances...that 5 fps or 40 fps can make or break a game.. :)

Nibitor maxes at 1.05v for me. How can you get higher? I'm definitely not going to do it, but I'm interested in the knowledge.

when i overclock should i up the voltage, cause i ran it at 700/1800/900 and it seemed to work fine and it got up to around 65C with playing crysis, and that was just with ntune

Anyone try 600/1500/900 with stock voltage on the 9800M GT? That seems like the reasonable OC for this card. Even better if you didn't have to mess with the voltage.
