I would say that's definitely a pretty premium price. Who knows, you may get a few bites. Speculating on price isn't something that I typically do, but I'd drop that by about ~$500 as it has a two generation old CPU and GPU.

I'd say you're realistically looking at about $1250-1350 for that system. Like Derek says, the hardware is now two gens old. The SSD bumps the price up a bit.

I'd lower my reserve to around $1200.

Yeah given the depreciation, I'd have to agree with previous posters here. You could still go with the high-ball price and hope for the best.

Yes it would rely on the purchaser not really knowing thier systems, it would not be too bad for you to upgrade it if you want some more graphics power but to someone else it wont hold much value.

I am about to be in similar boat for my NP8150 and trying to sell it.

I was in hopes for around 1500 myself though I paid 2400 :/ but anyway I think the one problem is getting the views. Not many people know what Clevo or Sager is so they tend to not get many search results and less searches = less chance for money.

Just be creative in titles etc.

But on price I would say TOPS you should ask for is around 1600-1700 and that's pushing it. You can also always add buy-it now and use best offer option to see what people toss at you.

    Anyway, good luck!

The thing is, a current W350/370ST significantly outperforms your 8170 with the advantage of being new, with warranty, lighter and cheaper. The SSD isn't that expensive to add. You may be lucky, but I can't see the laptop without SSD being worth more more than 700-800 and even that's pushing it.

2 years ago I sold an Asus G50vt for $880 and it was only a core 2 and had a 280m and was a few years old at that point even. I sold it because got an NP8150 w/ i7 so I would imagine him/we could get a bit more vs. just 700-800. The problem is the brand being little known and the fact eBay gets 13% after them and paypal take cuts..

The haswell in the current state has no performance increase over the IB CPU EXCEPT for iGPU increase so I don't really count that as too far behind. In a few benches haswell is a tad/hair slower even lol though they are same clock speeds.

Anyway it's all on how you list and sell it. Just like an interview.

Now you and me probably wouldn't see a value in it but not everyone is soo smart :)

Oh, I absolutely agree. You should see what the original Razerblades with 555m go for second hand. The price is pure madness. The 8170 is Sandy, not Ivy, so the difference is significant. The performance is more mid range by current standards. The realistic price is a lot less than what it's on for, but if someone wants to pay it, it's their money.

I was just comparing to Haswell to Ivy because it was said that the laptop was so many gen behind when really at the moment I don't think the last one vs. now matters lol. Now early next year/late this year when some others come out it might.

Oh well, guess I need to get mine listed soon, time is money on technology lol

You have to compare it to modern systems to see why it devalues so much, but haswell has brought certain tweaks over ivy (especially in the OC department) which stands it apart for enthusiasts and for those who don't know any different they will just see a whole bigger number difference.
