Hi guys, I need help with regard to my clevo p570wm3 laptop. it was fine untill I tried to install windows 8 PE x64 along side my windows 7 OS in the same boot driver.

I guess I messed up somehow by changing some bios settings, e.g. CSM, trused device, UEFI and etc.as my PE system won't load. At first I wasn't able to boot back to windows 7, which stopped booting when windows loading screen supposed to appear, so I hard rebooted the machine, but now it stuck in boot logo (I flashed prema's bios mod btw, which was fine). So I thought I should do a bios reset, so that I can get back into the settings.

but the very strange thing is, the CMOS/BIOS won't reset! I tried to remove the CMOS battery, and left it uncharged without the battery for 30 mins for several times, but everytime when I boot up the machine, i'm still prompted with the BIOS's password screen (I have BIOS boot password before), and after I enter the password, the screen just stucks in prema boot logo same as before.

So, can anyone please help me to figure out why the BIOS can't be reset, I will be much appreciated!!

btw, It seems there is no CMOS jumper?

    Many thanks!

Any chance you could contact the place of purchase? They might be able to give you some options.

The Bios could have been corrupted given that its just freezing there.

Dont mean to offend or anything, however would I be correct in assuming both OS are genuine versons?

Either way, it would seem your best bet would be to see what your reseller is willing to do. With Permas bios on there, they would unlikely honor any warranty if there happened to be any left, however they might be willing to charge you for a repair.

Hi Prmt, thank you for your reply, the machine was working fine before this happened, so I thought maybe if I can clear the CMOS, I should get it back to working state again, that's why I haven't contact the seller for RMA yet, because it usually takes very long time. About the operating system, the windows 7 OS is genuine, but the windows 8 PE is not since I downloaded it from internet as a backup OS for my C: drive(I know this is not right, but it looks like there is no place to buy a genuine PE OS copy? and I don't know how to create one of my own). I don't think this is the cause for the boot problem. I'm wondering if anyone know is there a bios recovery jumper on the motherboard?

Not that I am aware of, sorry. I replaced my p570 a while back so can't check personally.

Wouldnt really hurt to contact the place of purchase beforehand to see if they are even willing to help you at all. That way you can know your options.

Prema's BIOS unlocks options that may not reset with a CMOS reset, also removing the battery will reset the CMOS as there is no power to run it at that point so a jumper point would have no impact. You could try to force a low level reset by removing the CPU, powering it on/off and then replacing it or trying a different spec stick of ram.

thank you guys, I just tried to remove/resit all components of my systam, including cpu, gpu, ram.
But it is still no success for me, every time I boot up the machine, it stucks at the same boot logo screen after I entered my previously set bios password, which is very strange and unreasonable...

it seems my only option left is to rma my system, so yea, that's ****ed up big time...

Certain you can't get back in the bios menu by hitting Fx? And attempted a bootable usb stick and F7? If that works then you could simply reflash.

Also, would hope that a cmos reset does not nullify the bios password on this system. It it were that easy then it wouldn't be much of a 'security' measure and it was quite an expensive model at that. Prema's splash screen is also default, so can't sail by that either, unless you had no-logo boot set prior to the reset. Best verification is always system date, but if you can't get to the bios menu then that isn't much help ...

Unless you have a local store with a in place programmer then an RMA is likely your best option.

nope, I can't get access to bios whatsoever, system freezes up everytime after I entered my bios password. I can understand the reason why the bios password is not reset in some cases, but I just don't understand why it is preventing me from getting into bios setting or F7 boot menu. it is clear that my motherboard is not dead since it still turns on at this point.

Thanks Meaker, I'm going to post my laptop to my nearest local store for bios chip replacement, hope this won't take very long time.
