I just install window 8 on sager np9150 and cpu temperature reach about 60-70 C all the time. I assume fan is not working properly. Is there any way to fix this? install new bios? if so where can I download it?

There shouldn't be anything in Windows affecting the fan tables. You sure you didn't have temperature issues before reinstallation? I'd make sure the fans and the heatsinks are clear of dust first.

okay, so is the fan spinning at all/ normally/ at a higher pace than normal? Did you by any chance move/remove the heatsink when you cleaned the dust? (and possibly interfere with the connection that thermal paste had between the sink and the cpu)

or it could be that the thermal paste just came to the end of it's usable life and you would need to repaste the cpu. My Cpu hovers between 35-50+ at idle / word processing.. (the fans start spinning at 50 and return the CPU to under 40 degrees)

I don't think I miss any thing after I tried to put back the heat sink. The problem is that I have temperature around 30-45 c on window 7, but 50 to 70 C on window 8.

its important to know if the fan is spinning at all to rule out that u accidentally disconnected it from the mobo

if it does spin, then repaste ur cpu and make sure the heatsink is screwed down tightly!

I actually tried to use fn+1 and fans seem to work well at full speed. I opened up the the machine and tried to screw up everything tightly. I start to believe the issue might come from bios or thermal paste.

Yeah, the fan profile is a little lax on these systems, tuned to quietness rather than temps, but it should be better than it is, certainly a repaste.

BIOS would not typically have any direct correlation to thermal problems - nor would one Windows version to the next. Windows 8, in fact, is reported to be slightly less resource heavy.

So if anything, take the above advice with a grain of salt and check your paste. :)

Well theoretically a corrupt EC could have corrupted fan tables, but that is a bit of a stretch.

I did update my bios to newest version from sager. It doesn't reduce my temperature at all. I guess last way is to re paste IC diamond.

extra question: I have trouble with stiff screw on cpu heat sink. Is there any trick to loose them? Kinda stuck :(
